Kim Jae-min was whining as usual.
“Nooo—! Why can’t our jungler get it together? We win every time bot comes, but why does he keep crawling up to top? Is it a duo? Ah, right, duos are blocked now.”
“He probably went because he thought it was a good opportunity.”
“No, sis, just take a look! Our top is getting stomped, what’s the point of even watching? Why is he going to a lane he can’t handle?”
In the middle of his solo queue gaming, Kim Jae-min grabbed me and vented his frustrations about the jungler.
I could understand his feelings.
The absence of our jungler also meant the enemy jungler could easily invade, and they wrecked Kim Jae-min’s bot lane following the infamous “king angle” diagonal law.
Especially for Kim Jae-min, who had been doing quite well in the laning phase, it was no wonder he felt wronged.
“The jungler must be getting sucked dry. What a mess.”
There are players like that.
Liners who suck the life out of their jungler, and when things go south, they sink into the mud together.
Regardless of skill, there are occasionally players whose tendencies fall into that category.
And usually, players of that ilk are really exhausting whether they’re on your team or the enemy’s.
As proof, the top laner on Kim Jae-min’s team was someone I’d encountered quite frequently in solo queue.
“He used to be below Yeon-woo.”
Not regarding skill, but in other aspects.
3 Min Top School Honorary Member.
This nickname, derived from some theory, actually stemmed from the idea that top lane matchups end within three minutes, and they play and act accordingly.
With that said, Seo Yeon-woo was practically a symbol of malice for the jungler.
Originally, 3 Min Top School Honorary Member was one of the few people I occasionally duoed with.
Of course, it was mostly him sending duo requests.
That’s understandable since most top laners feel the need for a jungler who thinks highly of themselves.
Thus, when I was still a prisoner, I often received duo requests from top laners, including Seo Yeon-woo, who is now known as Honor.
“How did it come to this?”
Recalling the past Seo Yeon-woo, I couldn’t help but chuckle.
“Is this funny right now?”
Kim Jae-min, already fired up, exploded.
It wasn’t really because of that, but I didn’t feel the need to deny it either.
“Yeah. It’s funny.”
“Ugh, that jungler is at it again! Argh!”
Kim Jae-min’s outburst continued to escalate, but fortunately, it was quickly subdued.
That’s because Kim Ji-hoon, who had just finished exercising and showering, sat down next to us.
He didn’t show any signs of discomfort regarding the outburst.
He didn’t try to intimidate or roar with force.
Just by sitting quietly next to him, Kim Jae-min’s shouting gradually diminished.
“If the jungler does that over there!”
“No, from there—”
“It won’t work, I tell you…”
“Tsk…”
Watching him was akin to witnessing a gradient of anger control issues, and I couldn’t suppress my laughter.
“What’s so funny?”
“Cough… it’s nothing.”
“What is it? Come on, let me know.”
By then, Baek Seong-an, who had just wrapped up his solo queue, poked his head in, wondering what was up, but I returned to my seat while chuckling.
Then, Baek Seong-an said.
“Oh, by the way, it looks like our scrim schedule is going to be tight this time.”
“Did they book again?”
“It’s not finalized yet, but there are some days lined up with your team.”
“…Is that even possible?”
Setting aside the difficulty, can we even fit it in when each team has to play three games?
“It’s either make it happen or not. Are we going to call it off just because it’s tough?”
“Well, not that… Yeah, we have to.”
Baek Seong-an, who had seemed to be just rolling with the flow since the All-Star Event, showed a peculiar surge of enthusiasm.
It was nice to see, but sometimes it felt a bit excessive and slightly burdensome.
Not that it was a bad thing.
“But how did so many get booked? Is it because of the All-Star Event?”
After the All-Star Event, requests for scrims from other teams had increased.
According to Baek Seong-an, it wasn’t specifically due to the All-Star Event but more so because the spring season was starting soon and we were now proudly joining the first division, making it a completely natural occurrence.
“Why? Did you think it was all because of you or something?”
“…Not really.”
“C’mon, share.”
“No, seriously.”
Baek Seong-an grinned mischievously.
“I’m off to practice.”
“Okay, see ya.”
I took the excuse of practice to flee towards my spot.
Even though Baek Seong-an was still right next to me, during practice, it was an unspoken rule to refrain from anything that would annoy each other.
After all, Legends of League is a game that heavily manipulates human emotions.
‘So…’
I turned on the Legends of League client and immediately started solo queue.
However, my position was top.
The reason I was queuing as top this time was simple.
Since the scrim schedule had drastically increased after the All-Star Event, coupled with my individual solo queue commitments, the pressure was just too much.
That being said, I couldn’t possibly avoid solo queue altogether, so usually after scrims, I’d play a couple of games in different positions.
It was kind of a mental break.
Plus, it was an opportunity to check out lane matchups, so it didn’t hurt me at all.
Anyway, practice was practice.
‘Most importantly, it’s fun too.’
There’s something oddly magical about top lane.
Though there are occasionally players who fall into that magic and go weirdly dark, fundamentally, it’s true that the top lane itself is an incredibly attractive lane.
‘So…’
Having nothing in particular to do while waiting in the queue, I jumped into the community.
After the All-Star Event, the attention on me skyrocketed; initially, it felt a bit embarrassing, but I had adapted enough to dive back in.
-Bug Cut! Bug Cut! Bug Cut! Bug Cut! Bug Cut! Bug Cut! Bug Cut! Bug Cut! Bug Cut!

-Outlaw >> Rainbow, right? For sure.
As expected.
Even though this is a Legends of League community, the moment I stepped into the forum, an unusual atmosphere hit me.
Thank goodness it was a bit better now compared to right after the All-Star Event; that was truly something else.
The forum was flooded with all sorts of bizarre posts, essentially halting its original function.
I cautiously skimmed through the posts.
Most were mixed with jokes and memes, but out of habit, I checked out a few.

Most of it was pointless chatter, but I had killed enough time that my queue was finally up.
[Game found!]
[Accept / Decline]
At the very least, I accomplished my initial goal of spending time.
‘Let’s get to gaming.’
I closed the community without a second thought and shifted my gaze to the game screen.
However, I noticed that next to me Seo Yeon-woo’s screen was also at the Ban/Pick window.
“Huh?”
I took off my headset and briefly compared the bans listed on Seo Yeon-woo’s screen with my own.
We were in the same queue.
“We’re in the same queue.”
To that, Seo Yeon-woo also took off her headset and remarked, looking surprised.
“Oh, really?”
“Yeah. You seemed to be queued up for a while, did you just get into it?”
“Yeah, I had a few dodges.”
“Is that so? Anyway, looks like it’s a good match. I’m top this time.”
At this, Seo Yeon-woo’s expression subtly shifted.
“…Top?”
