[TS] Obsessed Gamer: The Ultimate Return – Chapter 91

Oren may be a tank, but he’s definitely not a tank with zero killing power.

In fact, he’s quite powerful.

Especially at level six, when he’s ready to go in hard with Ignite timing— that’s practically a finishing move.

However,

just a moment ago wasn’t the time when Oren had learned his ultimate or was ready with Ignite.

Yet, seeing a kill opportunity during the trade, Oren crossed a line he shouldn’t have.

Jason’s acting wasn’t just for show; it actually worked.

“Well, Oren might think he’s just unlucky.”

After securing the first kill, I headed straight home to buy boots and a seal.

I was planning to crank up the game’s tempo hard from this point on, and nothing beats the core items of boots and seal for that.

Now, where to go?

“I didn’t see their Nidalee during the top gank. Same for mid and bot. So… they must have been clearing out the jungle below.”

Unfortunately, since there had been no calls from the team, I couldn’t gather more information than that.

I had some confidence in map reading, but it’s never quite as good as when the team just tells you their plans.

“…Should I ask casually?”

My lips twitched for a moment, but sadly, I just didn’t have the courage to go further. To speak in this heavy silence… was a struggle for me.

“No. Let’s just stick to what we were doing. …This team might just be inherently quiet anyway.”

Even so, it felt a bit ridiculous that not a single word had been exchanged since the game started.

Heading straight to the upper jungle, I skipped the jungle and went straight into the enemy’s Krugs.

“Nidalee started at Red. It’s about time for Gromp and Krugs to spawn.”

Just as I was about to invade the enemy’s Red jungle, Nidalee showed up near our bot lane.

“Dive it.”

Fortunately, Ashe and Braum’s fierce resistance meant that enemy bot and Nidalee couldn’t easily join in.

“There’s no way this will end here.”

Vwoooosh—

As if to prove that point, the light of a teleport flared up bot lane.

It was enemy Sett’s teleport.

“Can I interrupt it?”

But Sett was already way back, hopping onto the teleport, while Renekton was soaking up the lanes.

“Even if it’s a cannon wave, I have to cover the mid lane and teleport.”

That was the only way to minimize the damage.

However, Renekton didn’t teleport and just soaked up the lanes, allowing the suddenly appeared Sett along with the enemy’s four members to literally devour our bot.

– Our team got caught!

– Enemy double kill!

The bot lane crumbled. The most our team gained was a slight advantage tilting towards the enemy’s upper jungle and mid lane.

It was nearly a one-sided loss.

And then… the first voice chat of the game came through.

[“No, ugh… no.”]

Someone attempted to say something from bot, but soon gave up as if it didn’t matter.

There wasn’t even an apology from mid.

“What a mess.”

How in the world was I supposed to sort this game out?

Top dive?

Gank for mid control?

Maybe loosen up bot?

Unfortunately, I had no answer.

“…One step at a time.”

No matter how tangled and messy the game is, waiting patiently will surely bring opportunities.

“First, top.”

To be honest, Oren isn’t the most delicious champion for diving.

Being a tank by nature, he can still function even when failing, and especially for Oren, it’s tough to mess up considering the item upgrades from allies.

“It’s not about ganking to mess up Oren. I’m here to get kills and absorb a shield to grow.”

Having already died once, Oren lost control and was getting hit by Jason.

In that situation, successfully diving with Elise would be like taking candy from a baby.

– Enemy eliminated!

“Successfully messed up Oren, but… still not enough.”

Tank top and bot.

Their importance doesn’t compare.

To turn the situation around, I needed to secure even more consistent gains.

“The skill gap between the laners might be there, but the teamwork difference is atrocious. It’s foolish to aim for big gains.”

Ambitious bets always come with the risk of huge losses.

To win this game, I couldn’t afford to throw those kinds of risky points.

“…Well, I couldn’t even if I wanted to.”

Throwing alone is a mistake; throwing together is a gamble.

But sadly, in this team, even those gambles weren’t possible due to poor teamwork.

“Little by little.”

After returning home, I invaded our jungle.

To ensure Nidalee couldn’t open up any more of a growth gap.

In the meantime, our bot suffered and got denied, facing dive pressure.

The bot turret’s barriers were completely stripped away.

There was no helping it.

“Little by little.”

I successfully ganked mid.

Just as Sett used his W, Renekton used his anger W skill to take down the shield.

– Enemy eliminated!

– Rampage!

“Little by little.”

Nibbling away bit by bit.

*

SCV Dormitory.

“Do we really have to scrim with those guys? Feels like a waste of time.”

[“Don’t say that. That’ll end badly. And it’s not like we’ve won yet.”]

“Ugh, boring.”

Kim Kang-Han, the SCV jungler, shook his head at BlackDog’s critique, the team captain.

It was dull.

When he heard that today’s scrim opponent was YSG, Kang-Han had already predicted these results.

When strong teams schedule scrims, sometimes they do it deliberately against weaker teams even when they don’t have to.

It was to boost the confidence of the players before important matches.

This method was quite effective; facing off against strong teams in scrims often displayed better performances than feeling nervous against them.

But that was only true when confidence was needed. With just a couple of days left until the crucial match against SY, scrimming against other teams felt far more productive.

“Look at what they’re doing over there. What is that? No calls at all.”

Originally, the bot dive which was only meant to apply a bit of pressure went outrageously easy.

An opponent that can’t even respond to this level shouldn’t be considered pro…

What a waste of time.

“Honestly, it’d be better to just play solo queue.”

Of course, strictly speaking, this game was harder than solo queue, but that was more of a metaphor.

“At least it seems like the jungle is doing something…”

[YSG Outlaw]

YSG Outlaw.

It was a name Kang-Han had never seen before.

“Did they just get called up?”

Since he had no way of knowing the internal situation of other teams, he only had a vague knowledge of Outlaw, considering the name.

While Kang-Han was casually engaging in the game, his teammates began to whisper to each other.

[“Hey, but that enemy jungler looks better than Kang-Han, no?”]

[“I agree. Jungle difference is HUGE.”]

Kang-Han’s lips twisted.

“Must be because top’s giving him a pass.”

[“It’s because the jungle isn’t backing him up.”]

“This is why outlaws are pointless.”

[“You’re next, butcher.”]

Even considering their young age, the childish banter continuing was cringeworthy.

Under normal circumstances, such minor quarrels wouldn’t even happen during a game, but at this point, the game was so easy that no one even bothered to intervene as the jokes kept flying.

[“By the way, who the heck is that person? I’ve never seen them before.”]

[“I don’t know. First time seeing them too. Kang-Han, you know? Same jungle, right?”]

“No idea.”

Normally, Kang-Han should know a jungler of that caliber since he was a current pro gamer, but for some reason, he had no data on Outlaw in his mind.

[“Checking their solo queue record, seems like they have a 100% win rate, huh?”]

[“Really?”]

[“No joke. This is insane. Their main account must be at least Challenger with a thousand points.”]

While the teammates exchanged various chit-chat…

– Our team got caught!

– The enemy is on a rampage!

The quietly lurking enemy Elise subtly continued to shine.

[“Whoa… did you see that? They’re really good.”]

[“Jungle difference!”]

[“Can’t argue with that.”]

Amidst the collaborative shoutouts of the top and mid echoing out for jungle difference, Kang-Han shook his head.

“Hmm, but something feels off.”

Kang-Han began to feel a vague sense of déjà vu.

Like being caught in a damp and sticky swamp.

“What is it?”

This was clearly a favorable game.

No, this was basically a game that was already won.

Yet, for some reason, there was this inexplicable dread lurking that they might lose.

“Why is Elise’s level… the same as mine?”

[Elise – Level 10]

[Nidalee – Level 10]

It was a situation that shouldn’t easily happen considering the nature of both champions.

Especially when their current situation was so advantageous for the allies.

“…The self-invade is one thing, but something about it feels strange.”

Elise matching Nidalee’s level was driven by her own invasion of her jungle and leaving one small creep each time.

After that, alongside the control Jason had, it forced the jungle paths of Nidalee to be halved, gaining one-sided advantages in terms of jungle.

Was this the kind of performance expected from a rookie prep player just starting out?

Usually, when new junglers receive praise, it’s mostly for their powerful fight abilities and physical prowess stemming from youth.

But Outlaw, displaying those attributes, also showed a remarkable depth in judgment and operation that seemed beyond just a rookie.

“Something…”

The moment Kang-Han started feeling that unsettling vibe, Elise’s level overtook Nidalee’s.

[Elise – Level 11]

[Nidalee – Level 10]

Kang-Han recognized this unsettling stickiness.

He had encountered similar feelings many times back in the past that felt like fading memories.

“There’s no way…”

The name was already gone.

Turned to a specter, so to speak.

He tried to deny it, but the feeling of déjà vu and strangeness he felt could only be explained that way.

Is it possible?

“…Prisoner?”

Suddenly, an absurd thought flashed across his mind.
