Your Commander-in-Chief – Chapter 119

June 28, Saturday.

The day right before the Second Guild Gathering of the Soft & Chewy Cow Guild.

The deadline for voting was approaching.

“This, this is…”

A trembling voice escaped my lips in panic.

It was no surprise, considering that nearly 100 people were set to participate in the gathering.

Even now, the numbers were fluctuating in real-time, but it seemed like the three-digit attendance was locked in place.

Since then, and especially as the voting deadline drew closer, the guild chatroom became even more active.

W-What should I do…

I sighed, my feet restless on the bed.

Last time, there were only about ten participants in the gathering.

If nearly 100 people really do show up this time, that would be a problem in its own right.

Sure, seeing many guild members at once was nice, but the condition I added was the issue.

[The guild leader will cover all meals.]

I confidently added that, expecting only about 30 people to show up.

Of course, not everyone who voted would actually come.

Some would definitely drop out unexpectedly on the promised day.

But even considering that, the number of attendees would still be close to three digits.

A regular restaurant wouldn’t work. I had to rent a large hall.

Cold sweat trickled down my back.

Eventually, time passed, and the voting deadline arrived.

The turnout was 100 percent. The number of attendees closed at 120.

That was quite a significant participation rate for nearly 180 guild members.

I calmly took a deep breath and started searching for a venue for the next day.

Just then, my phone rang—it was Sohee.

“H-Hello…?”

[Hayun, it’s me.]

“Yeah. Sohee.”

[Are you looking for a place to eat?]

“Ah, yeah. I just heard 120 people are attending, so I’m a bit… anxious.”

[I’ll help you out. Don’t worry.]

“Uh, how?”

[I know a place that my dad’s friend runs. They can give us a good deal.]

“B-But…”

[It’s fine. Some guests canceled their reservations, and all the prepared food was about to go to waste.]

“R-Really…?”

[Yeah, so don’t worry.]

June 29, Sunday.

The day of the Second Guild Gathering of the Soft & Chewy Cow Guild.

10:40 AM.

Yerin arrived at the agreed location 20 minutes early, checking her phone and looking around.

It was finally time to see the real form of the legendary Party Leader she had only heard rumors about.

With nearly 120 participants for the gathering, the crowd was clearly visible from afar.

Yerin hurried over, her gaze swiftly scanning to count the number of people.

About 80 seemed to awkwardly chat amongst themselves.

But she couldn’t spot the small girl she had been eagerly waiting to see.

Smiling awkwardly, Yerin approached them.

“This is the Soft & Chewy Cow Guild, right?”

“Ah, yes it is. May I ask your nickname?”

In response to Yerin’s question, a man who looked like he was in his forties stepped forward.

He was neatly dressed and spoke politely, which made him seem agreeable.

“I’m using the nickname Yerin.”

“Ah, I see. Could you show me our guild’s group chat on your phone?”

“Huh? The group chat…?”

Yerin tilted her head but took out her phone, displaying the group chat screen to him.

The man glanced at the screen and bowed his head as he explained.

“I don’t know why, but someone was pretending to be from our guild here. We just want to avoid that happening again… Oh, I’m Iyap, by the way.”

“Ah…”

Yerin nodded, scanning the other members.

As expected, there were a lot of men, but that didn’t mean there weren’t women.

It was 70-30. Pretty good numbers for a male-dominated gaming community.

While looking around, Yerin cautiously asked Iyap, “Um, is the guild leader…?”

“Ah, not here yet.”

Yerin sighed in relief at that.

Though it was unlikely, a small part of her hoped that the little girl would actually show up in reality.

What would the person controlling that small girl’s avatar look like in real life?

Imagining the guild leader, Yeo, in-game, Yerin questioned Iyap.

“Um, Iyap?”

“Yeah?”

“Was the guild leader really there at the First Gathering?”

“Yeah, the guild leader spent a pretty fun time with us at the first gathering.”

It wasn’t just Yerin. Other guild members were also asking those who attended the First Gathering about it.

No exact evidence was left since they hadn’t taken pictures, but everyone was chiming in.

Claiming their guild leader was indeed an active female middle school student.

Then, the promised time of 11 AM arrived.

Yet, the guild leader, the small girl, had not appeared.

Instead, a huge limousine bus began to pull up in front of the waiting guild members, who anxiously awaited their leader.

A total of five buses arrived.

At that moment, as the bus doors opened, a message from the guild leader, Yeo, arrived in the chat.

Yeo – [Sorry I can’t make it to the promised place! I’m sending a car to pick you up, so please get in!]

Just as everyone was bewildered by the news, a man dressed in a black suit stepped out from the bus and carefully spoke.

“Hello, Soft & Chewy Cow Guild members. Is this the right group?”

No one replied, keeping silent, but Iyap was the first to step forward.

“Yes, that’s right.”

“The young lady sent us. We will guide you.”

The man in the black suit bowed his head and gestured inside.

It was a signal for everyone to board the bus.

Confirming the message in the guild chat, the man in the suit also mentioned the lady had sent them to say to get on the bus.

People who had hesitated began to enter one by one.

Thus, all 120 members of the Soft & Chewy Cow Guild gathered at the designated meeting spot boarded the bus.

“Hey, Sohee. Are you sure this place is okay?”

“Yep.”

I scanned the surroundings anxiously with Sohee’s reply.

Just before heading to the gathering, Sohee had driven me and Harang to this luxurious-looking hotel.

The building was strangely empty.

Of course, there were staff around, but no other guests to be seen.

It felt off. Really off.

“H-Hope this isn’t too much?”

“Too much?”

Sohee tilted her head in confusion at my question.

I fiddled with my fingers, turning my head away.

Was it really okay to use this place for the guild gathering?

I just wanted to enjoy a meal, have pleasant conversations, and have a good time playing games.

“Wow… this place is really huge…”

At that moment, Harang returned from the restroom. Like before, he was clad in a black suit.

I immediately took a defensive stance.

I spread my arms wide to block Harang from coming any closer to Sohee.

“Stay back, you lanky!”

“Wha…?”

“Sohee’s scared!”

Harang frowned at my words.

I looked up at Sohee, who was now gently resting her hand on my waist.

“Doesn’t seem that way.”

Harang was right. But out of pride, I didn’t want to admit it.

“Keep a respectful distance.”

“Hah…”

“Right, Oppa. Please maintain a distance.”

Harang looked back and forth between us with a complicated expression.

It seemed he was hurt hearing something like that from someone he liked.

I smiled victoriously and laid my hand on Sohee’s knuckles.

Sohee liked me more than him.

He could never win against me.

At that moment, Sohee took out her phone.

Due to the height difference, I couldn’t peek at the screen.

“What is it?”

“The guild members are arriving.”

“Really?”

“Yeah, they’re coming in from down there.”

Sohee and I rushed to the large glass wall.

Beyond the glass wall, the view of the hotel below came into sight.

Along the long road, five buses lined up, approaching the front of the hotel.

“Hey, Sohee.”

“Yeah?”

“Could it be that those buses are the ones that were sent earlier?”

“Yup.”

“O-Oh, I see…”

I gazed at the buses that began to stop in front of the hotel.

Even from afar, I could tell there were quite a number of people on board.

I turned to Sohee, who still had a firm hold on my waist.

“Um, Sohee. Shouldn’t we go over there?”

“Why?”

“Because what if the guild members get lost?”

“We sent someone. It’ll be fine.”

Sohee said that as she turned away from me.

Being pulled along by her, I couldn’t help but follow.

“Wait, just a moment…!”

“Let’s go wait for them. They’ll find their way.”

Sohee and I arrived at a huge hall prepared with a buffet.

The expansive space and clean design immediately opened up my view.

After taking it all in, I asked Sohee, “Sohee.”

“Yes?”

“Honestly, the part about the canceled reservations was a lie, wasn’t it?”

“Nope! Really all canceled.”

“R-Really?”

“Yeah, so don’t feel pressured.”

Sohee said that lightly, but no one could feel relaxed after hearing it.

I fiddled with Sohee’s hand that rested on my waist.

Guild members would be arriving soon. As the guild leader, I couldn’t just be stuck holding onto a current middle school girl for too long.

“Let go of this.”

Games and reality were different. In games, my character was an exceptionally powerful warrior, but in reality, I was just a fairly weak middle school girl.

“You’re going to stay by my side all day, remember?”

“That, that’s only when you’re struggling…”

“I’m struggling, Hayun. It’s so hard; stay with me.”

W-What is she suddenly doing?

She was being unusually touchy for some reason.

I shot a glance of help toward Harang.

But he simply laughed lightly and turned away.

It seemed he was pretty upset about earlier.

What a childish guy…

I sighed.

“Sohee. I’m the guild leader.”

“Okay.”

“The guild leader needs to look cool.”

“Our Hayun is cool.”

I let out a small sigh.

At that moment, over a hundred people began to enter the large hall.

Some familiar faces mixed in with others I had never seen.

They were all my guild members.

With my arms crossed, I put on the most serious face I could muster.

Sohee’s hand still rested on my waist.

“Welcome, my guild members!”

In response to my greeting, the expressions of the guild members turned slightly awkward.
