Your Commander-in-Chief – Chapter 187

Around the time the raid preparation was in full swing, I received a letter.

[Hello, this is Deron.]

As you can tell from the subject, it wasn’t from an ordinary user.

It was a letter sent directly from Deron’s GM.

The contents of the letter stated that VRS professional players had sent me an invitation to the event battle, and if I accepted it, I could participate without any conditions.

I let out a groan as I examined the letter’s contents.

It seemed the VRS players still held onto the memories of their defeat against me.

Those little rascals! Trying to stab at a small, cute middle school girl like me…

I sighed and shook my head.

It was an interesting proposal, but I didn’t have the time.

I needed to gather the raid party and try the raid.

It was a new raid. No strategies had been revealed, meaning I would have to attempt everything from scratch.

I’d have to dedicate at least a week just to the raid.

That meant there was no time to worry about the event battle.

I tucked the letter away and got up from my seat.

*

Time flew by, and it turned into Tuesday, January 23rd.

I nodded at the party members standing in front of me.

The newly selected members had shown up on time without being late.

“Did everyone bring enough potions and doping drugs?”

“I packed them~”

“I have plenty. If anyone’s short, just let me know, and I’ll share.”

I turned away as I watched the party members chat.

The new raid, [Fallen Moonlight].

It was a dungeon with a setup that the Moon Goddess Lunaris had accepted evil powers and had fallen from grace.

The great moon temple now held a pale moon instead of the softly shimmering moonlight.

The sinister energy wafting from within clung to my arms and legs.

While I was noticing the dungeon’s atmosphere, the party members whispering behind me suddenly fell silent.

I turned my head slightly to see their eyes fixed on me.

A faint sense of expectation arose, especially in the eyes of the newcomers, who were sparkling with interest.

I knew what they were hoping for.

They clearly wanted to see my jumping entrance, which they had only heard rumors about.

“Are you really going to jump?”

“Of course! You look just like a rabbit!”

“Wow… Rabbit Party Leader…”

I cleared my throat upon hearing their chatter.

I knew how cute I looked when I jumped in.

Where else could you find a party leader that cared about the morale of the members like I did?

Feeling the expectations of my party members focused on me, I sprang forward energetically.

“Whoa…!”

“Heavenly blue!”

And as expected, it was once again the voice of the Snow Mage.

Thwack-

My body, having jumped vigorously, landed on the ground. But that familiar feeling I was waiting for didn’t come.

When entering a dungeon, my body usually pauses for a brief moment.

This was due to the process of the channel being created as I entered the instant dungeon.

But now, I felt nothing.

“Huh…”

[You cannot enter the dungeon.]

“What…?”

I couldn’t enter the dungeon? This was the first time I was seeing such a message while playing Deron.

“Party Leader?”

“Yeo-na?”

At that moment, noticing something was off, Helena and the Snow Mage approached me using Blink.

I flailed my hands in front of the translucent, wavering entryway.

“Aren’t you going into the dungeon?”

“What are you doing?”

“Oh, I can’t get in!”

No matter how much I struggled, trying to move forward wasn’t possible.

The dungeon did not permit my entry.

Helena, standing at the entrance of the dungeon, tilted her head and slowly walked forward.

“Uh…”

Just as I suspected…

Helena also couldn’t enter the dungeon.

She gazed into the air with slightly surprised eyes.

She must have received the same message as me.

It was at that moment.

A server message popped up that everyone in Deron could see.

[Hello, this is Deron.]

[b][A critical bug has occurred in ‘Fallen Moonlight,’ hence access to this dungeon is currently blocked.]

[b][For more details, please check the announcement posted on the homepage.]

“Bug…?”

“Does that mean we can’t get in?”

The party members, having confirmed the message, began to murmur.

I groaned and quickly accessed Deron’s homepage.

Sure enough, in line with the server message, it stated that a critical bug had occurred in the raid dungeon, Fallen Moonlight, blocking all entries.

The expected time for the raid dungeon to reopen was undecided.

There was no information on the patch date either.

“Ugh…”

I felt deflated. I had made thorough preparations for today.

Just when I was about to start the raid, a critical bug suddenly appeared.

What kind of bug could have led to such a hasty closing of the dungeon entrance?

“What should we do?”

I glanced over the party members waiting for my direction in response to the Snow Mage’s question.

Everyone was looking at me with puzzled expressions, waiting for my words.

What can we do?

Let’s disband.

I had no choice.

I got up from my seat, forcing a smile.

“Everyone, have you all checked the announcement?”

The party members nodded gravely, as if they were already guessing the outcome.

It was just a day’s delay. There was no need to be so gloomy.

I tried to smile cheerfully and said in a lively voice to the party members.

“Well, it can’t be helped. Let’s disperse for today.”

“What if we wait a bit?”

It was the newly joined member who answered me.

Though he might have lacked some skill, I recognized his enthusiasm and included him this time, and he was still sparkling with excitement.

“But we don’t know when it will open. It’s better than just waiting around; let’s do something else.”

“But…”

“There’s always tomorrow. And if not tomorrow, there’s the day after. It will open sooner or later.”

“Ugh…”

The new party member hung his shoulders in disappointment.

Noticing the mood, the other party members started to disperse one by one.

In the end, only Helena and I were left.

“What kind of bug was it?”

“Not sure…”

Stammering over Helena’s words, I began to browse various communities.

If it was a critical bug, there had to be some discussion about it.

The first place I checked was the Deron gallery’s sticky post.

As expected, the cause of the incident had been posted there.

[Deron Copy Bug Activation! LOL][162]

In the raid dungeon, Fallen Moonlight, there’s a named monster that fights by transforming into the appearance of the enemy.

This is how the copy bug is exploited.

Apparently, there are tons of players in the top-tier raid parties utilizing this right now.

It’s been just a couple of days since the bug was leaked, so it’d be unfathomable to imagine how much they might have gained since then.

Here’s how the bug works:

1. Summon a mount like a donkey or camel with a bag, and stuff it full of expensive materials to the max.

2. Control that mount and send it toward the named monster, initiating combat between the mount and the named.

3. As soon as the named enters the battle, it transforms into a random target’s appearance.

4. Since only the mount is nearby, the named takes on the mount’s appearance.

5. When the mount dies after the battle starts, the named returns to its original form, dropping items identical to those stuffed in the mount’s bag.

6. Repeat this process continuously.

The international community is on fire with this! LOL

[Is this for real?]

ㄴ[It’s a lie. I’ve tried.]

ㄴ[It’s real, video evidence has been posted too! LOL]

[Whoa, LOL!]

[No wonder transcendence stones suddenly became cheaper. I thought it was odd.]

[The reason why Chima Man was going crazy yesterday makes sense! LOL]

ㄴ[Seriously? I thought that dude was just losing it, but there really was something going on.]

ㄴ[LOL, he’s really sensitive to gold price changes!]

[Did the Korean raid parties use this too?]

ㄴ[I heard the advance party knew all about it. So yeah?]

ㄴ[So did the Malang-Jonddeok party use it too?]

ㄴ[Nope, those guys haven’t even started yet.]

[Student, take the post down.]

[The game is totally dead! LOL]

[Are all the guys who bought transcendence stones yesterday going to get their items back?]

ㄴ[No way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!]

ㄴ[LOL!]

[But if it was revealed through copying, it wasn’t that cheap in the end?]

[Isn’t a server rollback possible here?]

ㄴ[I think they’re figuring out the situation right now! LOL]

[Are they not doing inspections?]

ㄴ[They’ve closed only the raid channel and are recovering copied items, they said.]

ㄴ[When the hell are they gonna recover all that? LOL]

[How did these guys even discover this?]

ㄴ[For real… It’s amazing to see such things.]

[Wow…]

They say when faced with an unexpected situation, words fail you.

That was exactly my situation.

The notion that a copy bug was happening in Deron… The revelation that wealth was multiplying in a world that was like my second life was a considerable shock.

I rubbed my throbbing forehead.

As I sat blankly, staring at the gallery, new sticky posts began to flood in.

[This is hilarious; they’re recovering items! LOL][37]

[Screen shot of the GM recovering items in Deron!]

I couldn’t help but laugh at the sheer absurdity.

I thought I was dealing with a robber.

Suddenly the GM appeared in front of me, claiming the transcendence stones I bought from the auction house were duplicated items and took my items away.

Without any exchange, he just reached out, and the pile of transcendence stones I had in my inventory disappeared! LOL

[Comments]

[LOL!]

[Their handling is beyond hilarious! LOL]

[Are these guys seriously running around doing this instead of just shutting down the server?]

ㄴ[Seems like it, right? That’s totally insane! Do they know how much this stuff is worth?]

ㄴ[Looks like they chose this over server reset!]

[So do they return the gold?]

ㄴ[Yeah, they do return gold!]

ㄴ[That’s a relief!]

[I got recovered too! LOL, I used mine on equipment, so my equipment’s transcendence stage dropped! LOL!]

ㄴ[LOL!]

“Ha…”

As I gazed at the contents of the sticky post, a man dressed in a neat black suit, which had no place in the fantasy game Deron, suddenly appeared before me and Helena.

The man looked like an ordinary salaryman, with a GM mark above his head.

“Hello, I’m the GM.”

“Whoa…”

“I’ve come to recover copied items discovered on Helena’s account. I will be returning the gold used to purchase those items, so I ask for your understanding.”

The GM spoke rapidly in a very businesslike tone.

Then he reached out his hand toward Helena.

A user who posted in the Deron gallery had mentioned that suddenly a GM appeared and took away the pile of transcendence stones.

Helena appeared to be undergoing a similar process herself.

At that moment, the GM’s hand glowed brightly, and a pile of transcendence stones came cascading down.

The maximum number of stacked transcendence stones is 99. Usually, we refer to that as a single pile, and now hundreds were pouring down!

Not just one or ten, but a staggering number that easily exceeded hundreds.

Thud thud thud thud—

“Ha…”

The GM let out a groan as he looked at the mess of transcendence stones scattered on the floor.
