The moment the Kill Log popped up, a massive halberd came flying towards my location.
Is a pro really a pro? I thought all eyes were on the Snow Mage, but it seems I was mistaken.
I remained in the same stance as I aimed to retrieve my sword, focusing on recognizing the enemy’s attack.
A colossal strike came down from above, tearing through the space as it came crashing down.
Even if I were to die like this, it’d be a one-for-one kill exchange. The battlefield wouldn’t tilt too much.
However, I wasn’t ready to die just yet.
Retrieving my sword would waste too much movement.
To roll on the ground, I’d need to drop this heavy weapon.
There was no hesitation.
I let go of the nodachi and rolled on the ground.
Taaang!
A huge impact sound echoed behind me.
The heavy halberd slammed into the ground, scattering dirt everywhere.
While in a rolling position, I glanced at the enemy situation.
There was one butcher user chasing after me, while the rest were locked in a struggle with our team.
If I could just lead this butcher user around, it would create a 4v3 situation.
I quickly got up from the ground and grabbed the short bow that was slung behind me.
I gauged the distance between me and the enemy. Just after, I pulled an arrow from the quiver strapped to my thigh and nocked it to the bowstring.
Paaang!
The moment I released the taut bowstring, the arrow shot out in an instant.
The blue flash slicing through the air didn’t inflict meaningful damage on the butcher user, but it did momentarily hinder their movement.
Tiiing!
As expected, this short bow couldn’t pierce through thick armor.
Taaat!
“This… this bitch…!”
I’ve successfully drawn aggro.
The butcher user, who’s small in stature yet mobile, seemed bothered by the arrow strikes hitting them.
Whoosh—
The enemy butcher player lunged forward, swinging their halberd.
That heavy attack made me shudder.
But I didn’t panic.
I took a big step back, using that recoil to leap and spin.
My body flipped backward, maintaining that position while pulling back the bow.
Creeeak—
Fwooosh—
I fired from an unstable stance. I didn’t expect to hit.
However, the arrow flew toward the gap in the enemy’s helmet.
Piiing—
“Ugh, uggghh!”
Even though they were covered in solid armor, there was a small opening in the helmet.
If I targeted that spot, I could knock them down with this little bow.
The opponent seemed to realize this too, raising one hand to shield their helmet.
That’s it. That was my plan.
To properly wield a heavy halberd, both hands needed to be used.
It’d be distracting for them. In the moment they attacked, they’d fear that an arrow was aimed at their eyes.
Taaack!
As I landed on the ground, I retreated further, loosing another arrow.
Fwooosh!
Thud!
Once again, the arrow was stopped by their thick gauntlet and fell to the ground.
But I wasn’t disappointed.
Without a weapon, this was the best I could do.
In that moment, the kill log appeared in the upper right corner.
Enemy eliminated: Blood Demon King’s beloved → S4-doyo
Ally eliminated: S4-doyo → VIA-Bisu
It must’ve been a 4v3 confrontation.
Yet, a one-for-one kill exchange had occurred.
That spelled trouble.
Moreover, the person giving orders to the entire team had fallen.
I bit my lip and turned my gaze.
The Snow Mage, whom I thought would be the first to fall, was holding her ground well.
Using her massive halberd, she kept the enemies at bay while effectively protecting her teammates who were trying to find angles.
The glances of the two knights wielding claymores flashed with a chilling light.
Gone was their self-deprecating laughter about being second-stringers. What stood there was a perfectly honed sword.
The team was doing okay. They were fighting well.
The moment I registered that fact, I felt a quake approaching from directly in front of me.
“Whoa!”
The butcher began charging at me.
There was a newfound urgency in their movements.
Again, I took a big step back and loosed another arrow.
Fwooosh!
The arrow, flying swiftly, couldn’t find its way through the helmet’s gap once again.
The butcher user was moving in a hunched position, as if trying to hide any openings.
At this rate, it would never end. They realized my arrows weren’t that threatening.
The hesitation in their movements vanished.
I bit my lip and drew the dagger I had strapped at my waist.
Thud- Thud- Thud-!
The booming footsteps rattled my entire body.
“Huff…”
I didn’t back away as I faced the incoming enemy.
I exhaled slowly, letting out the heat I held inside.
Acceleration-
Think faster, act faster.
I felt a white pain spreading through my head and frowned.
There was only one chance, and mistakes were not allowed.
As I gripped the dagger tightly, I surged forward.
Bwooooom—
The instant I recognized the incoming halberd attack, I split my time into 0.1 seconds.
In that suspended moment, I was the only one who could freely perceive the situation.
I ducked low and darted to the right. Just after, I dashed forward again—
The moment I made my decision, time began to flow again.
Boom!
My body moved as I thought.
I slid to the right, evading the sweeping halberd attack aimed at me.
Right after, I dashed again.
The butcher started moving to retrieve his weapon.
I needed to arrive more quickly, without delay.
Launching myself with a small push, my legs arrived right in front of the enemy.
Immediately, I pushed off my legs and leaped.
Ta-dak—
With the first leap, I couldn’t completely clear the enemy’s body.
This time, I extended my other leg, stomping hard on the enemy’s knee, trying for a second jump.
Ta-dak-dak!
Like a snake climbing a tree, I climbed onto the butcher user, gripping his head.
“Y-You crazy…!”
Hearing the butcher user’s startled scream, I plunged my dagger into the gap of their helmet.
As they flailed around, trying to get a hold on me, I was already leaping down toward the ground.
Ta-dak!
As I landed, I glanced back over my shoulder.
The sensation rushing through my fingertips was vivid. It had struck true.
As if to confirm my thoughts, the butcher was trembling violently, blood gushing from the gap in their helmet.
But they didn’t fall. I needed a sure, finishing blow to take them out.
I rushed forward to retrieve the nodachi lying on the ground.
With my primary weapon reclaimed, there was only one thing left to do.
Thwack—
Extending my small leg, I aimed directly downward.
Using that leg as a pivot, I began to spin my body.
Swinging the sword in this state wouldn’t reach the enemy.
After all, I was quite far from the butcher.
But that didn’t matter. What I needed was rotational power.
As if replicating a skill from Deron, I began to spin with my leg as the axis.
The wide blade of the nodachi began to whirl with a threatening sound.
Bwooooom—
The sound grew menacing, like the butcher user swinging their weapon.
As I spun, I took a great step forward.
The rotation of my body didn’t diminish. In fact, it accelerated with the passage of time.
Two turns, three turns, four turns.
Just as the sixth rotation was about to begin, the blade of the nodachi struck the butcher user’s helmet with force.
Kwaaaang—
It connected well. The attack aimed at the gap in the helmet failed as the nodachi’s blade was thicker than the opening.
However, it seemed it was enough to finish the enemy off.
Enemy eliminated: yeon1111 – S1-Engage
The kill log popped up in the upper right corner as the butcher user’s body fell limply.
A massive figure knelt on the ground, with a crumpled helmet resting atop it.
Blood trickled out from the gaps in that helmet.
“Haa… Haa…”
I leaned against the nodachi in my hand.
My body trembled slightly, and I had to catch my breath.
I was unable to move due to my stamina being pushed to the limit.
I had moved excess to ensure the enemy was thoroughly finished.
With my vision tinted red and flickering, it seemed I had been immobile for quite some time.
But it was fine. Thanks to me taking down two enemies, our team could easily take the fight.
“Yay!!!!”
The Snow Mage, drenched in red blood, let out a victorious roar.
Seeing blood drip down from her massive halberd, I thought her appearance here suit her more than in Deron.
“Blood Demon King!”
Boom, boom, boom.
The Snow Mage rushed toward me, kicking aside the corpses around her, and lifted me off the ground.
Due to her small stature, I dangled in the air.
“Don’t lift me up like this…”
“O-Oh! I’m sorry!”
Even if we were close, such sudden physical contact was quite overwhelming.
The Snow Mage patted her helmet to set me down.
“Phew… That was amazing…”
“Oof… I think I’m about to die…”
Then, our two knights approached.
With their armor crumpled and covered in dust, it seemed they had also had a tough time.
I checked my recovered stamina and smiled lightly.
“Let’s keep this going.”
The game was smooth.
They had put everything into the central fight, and when their initial plan crumbled, they fell apart.
There was no need to rush to seize the enemy’s occupied territory.
We fortified our position, having capped the central occupied area and the pathway leading to the side.
With two occupied territories in our control, points were rapidly increasing.
Ultimately, this game, too, ended in our victory.
[Victory!]
“We won!!! Long live the Blood Demon King!!!”
As I checked the message that appeared before me, the Snow Mage was the most thrilled.
She ran around, wildly swinging her halberd menacingly.
“Hmm… Hmm…”
I cleared my throat and quietly turned my head.
I felt quite embarrassed.
