Jerebel

Raid reset at 7 PM, try.
Deron Online
– Can we clear it today?
– If the tanks do well, it seems possible.
– Aren’t they doing well enough right now?
– I watched a perfect clear video and, no, they need to be better.
– For real, lol, the tanks are the problem.
“Hey, guys. Our tanks are doing fine. Don’t say weird stuff.”
Jerebel sighed inwardly as he read the chat window.
As a broadcaster, he had created this raid party and was aiming for a first kill with his viewers.
However, just days ago, a newly formed guild snatched the first kill they were aiming for.
Everyone pretended otherwise, but he could tell their motivation had dropped compared to before.
Jerebel felt the same lack of motivation. But as a broadcaster, he had to maintain the same attitude as always.
Not just for the raid, but to keep his viewers entertained.
“Alright. Let’s go for it again today.”
Jerebel’s party was stable. They had already experienced several tries, building up their skill level.
With a smooth charge, they reached the final boss after defeating all the named monsters.
The first try was the typical tactic they had always used. But as they wiped out quickly, the chat window started to flood.
– Maybe we should change tactics.
– For real, let’s try what that middle school girl guild did.
– LOL, we got wiped out.
– Hey, let the tanks do the elite dribble.
“Ugh… Do we really have to? Let’s try a few more times and if it doesn’t work out, we’ll switch.”
Jerebel said that while looking around at his party members.
Everyone here was his viewer. Even without the title of party leader, most would trust and follow him.
“Everyone, let’s try a few more times and then we’ll change tactics if needed.”
“Sounds good to me.”
“Understood.”
The party members followed Jerebel’s words.
And so, they continued with the tries.
The 2nd, 3rd, 4th… until they reached the 10th try, Jerebel finally paused the progress and began to adjust the tactics.
Honestly, it wasn’t a monumental adjustment that needed a big word like “change.”
“Can we dribble 60 elite monsters?”
“With only two healers, that seems tough…”
“I’ll throw in 5 more. You can handle that, right?”
“With that much…”
If they couldn’t hold up with two healers, he could just give them more healers.
Fortunately, Jerebel’s party had more than enough healers.
And thus, the try began again. The tanks in Jerebel’s party were skilled, so managing 30 monsters seemed perfectly fine.
– Wow, looks like a clear potential right away, lol.
– Look at those named monsters’ health dropping.
– Haha, Jerebel, you’re hilarious.
Then, suddenly, 30 elite orcs popped up again.
The tank already leading 30 monsters quickly moved to grab the aggro from those orcs.
Jerebel, who was a wizard, had no specific tactics to follow. He just stood like a statue, blasting spells, and had all the time in the world to check his surroundings.
He had to dodge the charge patterns occasionally, but those were patterns he could easily evade with his eyes closed.
“Ugh… feeling a bit anxious?”
Jerebel glanced at the tank dribbling the 60 orcs.
It was indeed worrisome. As he said, the tank was in a state of anxiety. Health was rapidly fluctuating. Within a second, 50-80% of health could drop.
The excessive healing from the healers filled that gap.
There was a lot of wasted healing. That meant mana was quickly running out, too.
With so much health dropping at once, bigger heals were necessary. But big heals had a slow activation time.
If the health dropped too fast, they wouldn’t be able to react in time, so they needed to preemptively use the big heals to keep the tank alive.
As heals burst out one after another, the tank’s health quickly surged up.
But it was overhealing. Even if health was at 100%, healing effects kept pouring on them.
In that moment, about 5 out of the 60 orcs slipped away.
The aggro had switched due to the healing. Anxious glances exchanged among them.
Jerebel, the sub-tank, and the healers all had their eyes meet in the air for a moment when the sub-tank dashed out to catch the straying 5 orcs.
But then, another problem arose. Due to the sudden charge, they were now too far from the orcs.
The orcs that were not aggroed began to scatter in all directions.
The strategy failed. That thought crossed the minds of both the viewers watching the broadcast and Jerebel.
In that moment, more orcs poured out once again.
A total of 90 elite orcs. The dealer line screamed and scattered, and the tanks attempting to manage the situation melted away instantly. Next were the healers, followed by the dealers.
After everyone resurrected, Jerebel pondered.
Did they see a clearing possibility? No. With this tactic, it was absolutely impossible to clear.
The middle school girl guild succeeded due to the tanks’ overwhelming skills and 30 mages.
They had 7 healers, 3 tanks, and the rest were filled with 30 dealers.
But Jerebel’s party had 5 tanks, 15 healers, and the remaining 20 were dealers, of which only 5 couldn’t comfortably deal damage due to being melee classes.
It was no wonder there was a damage shortage.
In other words, it was a tactic that Jerebel’s party couldn’t pull off.
– Ugh, the tanks are terrible, lol.
– Doesn’t seem like it’s the tanks’ fault, though.
– It is the tanks’ fault.
– It seems like the damage output is the real issue, right? There’s a shortage of dealers.
– Was it really the dealers’ fault?
But Jerebel wanted to push through and modify that tactic in some way.
If the existing tactic wasn’t working, he wanted to clear it by transforming it somehow.
Fortunately, he found a way to adapt. Jerebel’s party had 5 tanks.
Even excluding the main tank and the two tanks waiting for the charge pattern, there was still 1 tank left.
Each would dribble 30 monsters.
But this time, there was a problem with the arrangement of the healers.
“How many healers are needed to hold off 30 monsters?”
“I’d say around 3 to 4… We’ll need to stick together.”
In the end, the healers were redistributed.
Aside from healers dedicated to the main tank and the ones handling the charge, the rest were spread out for the dribble tanking.
Then the try resumed.
It was stable. A lot more stable than before.
Splitting the 60 orcs for tanking made things a lot more manageable this time.
However, the length of the battle was becoming an issue. A prolonged battle meant the healers’ mana would run out quickly, and new elite orcs would pop up soon.
Suddenly, 30 more elite orcs appeared.
Now totaling 90. But they had anticipated this. The sub-tanks quickly began to split the new ones for tanking.
Each would handle 45 orcs. With fewer orcs to manage, things became much more stable.
The party members thought they could see a clearing chance.
But the extended battle time was becoming a hindrance.
Then, in that moment.
“Main tank, down!!!”
A scream broke out from the healers’ line.
The main tank had died. That meant a lot.
“What are the healers doing?”
“We’re out of mana!”
The healers had run out of mana. The extended battle time was the issue.
Eventually, this try returned as another failure.
– This is so frustrating, lol.
– We can’t clear it. It’s just overall insufficient damage.
– I guess we have to keep hitting the damage numbers.
Thus, that day’s raid came to an end.
As they returned to the capital city and Jerebel wrapped up the stream, someone approached him.
“Iyap?”
[ Iyap ]
A thief user who always maintained the top DPS in Jerebel’s party.
“I’m going to leave this party.”
“Whoa, suddenly…?”
“After much deliberation, that’s the conclusion I’ve come to… You know, party leader, right? We’re not going to clear this party.”
Jerebel fell silent. The ace of the party had directly struck the ignored truth.
He bit his lip and nodded.
“Y-yeah.”
“Thanks for everything until now.”
With that, Iyap walked away.
It wasn’t just Jerebel’s party either.
In other high-ranking guilds, little by little, people were starting to leave.
In the days that followed, Hayun’s phone began to pile up with messages for guild recruitment.
*
“What’s going on…”
I slumped on my bed, fiddling with my phone.
In the past few days, I had just posted a new recruitment post. I was hoping to at least find some dealers who could perform like a human.
But more people than I expected began showing up.
Specs, of course, were top-tier.
They even attached videos of their raid play. Previous DPS graphs from their old guild were included too.
Could it be that they left due to some trouble? If someone had an issue, I would absolutely decline them.
I checked each of their nicknames and searched for them on various sites related to Deron.
But there was nothing. No one caused any problems.
They had simply left quietly from their raid parties and applied to mine.
But I still didn’t know. Given that the problem had occurred the day before, it was possible that the post hadn’t been made yet.
I waited for a bit. In the meantime, the applications kept piling up.
Finally, the day of the raid arrived. I accepted all the members from those high-ranking guilds without a hitch.
A total of 14 new members had joined.
The dealer line now had a variety of classes. It meant I had to elect a new job leader and separate the groups.
But Hwarang was a problem. He was the only archer in the party.
“Where do I even fit this guy…?”
He was a long-range dealer with good mobility.
I decided to slot Hwarang into the mage line.
It was a pretty satisfying arrangement.

High-ranking guild dealers were dropping off one by one.
It was a massive movement that took place over several days. Those with some sense would realize right away where they were heading.
That day, a new post appeared on the Deron Online gallery.
