Your Commander-in-Chief – Chapter 211

Don’t even breathe.

Only recognize the enemy in front of you and think of a way to counter.

The enemy Paladin charges straight at me, while the Assassin circles around, waiting for an opportunity.

Right after that, the last enemy Assassin finishes respawning and shows up.

Thus, the recognized enemies number three.

An overwhelming burden since I have to face them alone.

Can I handle this?

I briefly set aside the question that popped into my head.

Thinking about my limited stamina, I map out the optimal path for movement.

With a low breath escaping my lips, time begins to move.

The white pain still covers my entire head.

Control the speed of time. For me to move, I needed to escape from the frozen time.

As time resumes, the enemy Paladin’s massive Morning Star flies toward my face.

If it hits, my head will explode, but I evade the attack by stepping back a pace.

Don’t forget the distance to the enemy. Assassins will swing their swords at me anytime.

However, now is the chance.

I move back and quickly spin my body.

To deliver a massive shock to these guys in their solid armor, I needed to utilize centrifugal force in my attack.

Vwoosh-!

As the wide swing of my strike was both an attack and an optimal defense.

The long weapon means excellent spatial control.

Clang-!

As the blade of the swung Nodachi strikes the Paladin’s body, he shakes violently.

It’s my chance. But I couldn’t attempt a follow-up attack.

That’s because the enemy Assassin was charging right next to me.

Don’t stop moving; I need to control the space around me with wide attack ranges.

Vwoosh-!

The second strike slices through the space where the Assassin is closing in.

It didn’t hit. But that’s fine. If I can temporarily stop the enemy’s approach, that’s enough.

No additional attacks can come. I must fight while allocating my limited stamina efficiently.

I take a step back to catch my breath.

At that moment, the second Assassin begins to move.

The first collision has happened.

I need to think of my next move right away.

The white pain intensifies for a moment, and time stops again.

Don’t get excited; this is my territory.

Only I can reach this time.

Think calmly.

What must I do to deflect the attacks of the three enemies at once?

Impossible. At least not with this body.

The thought of regret won’t leave me.

If it were my character from Deron…

What a useless thought.

I glance over the enemies with a calm gaze, scattering my distraction.

I watch the movement of the Assassin approaching from the right.

The right hand creeping around my back is holding a small pouch.

The Assassin, like the Samurai, can choose to be dual-wielded.

I recall the throwing star attack that just hit me.

Now I observe the Assassin coming around from the left.

A long leg extended out, and the upper body slightly bent, gripping his dagger tightly as he pulls it back.

He’s trying to thrust.

Lastly, there’s the Paladin blocking my path.

He seems to be pressuring me with his kite shield held wide.

It was clear he intended to push through.

Think of the optimal movement.

And then move.

Feeling the cool breeze brush against my cheek, I realize time has begun to move.

Now’s the time.

Tap-tap-!

In a desperate and hasty maneuver, I dive toward the enemy Paladin.

His shield attack hurtles towards my lowered body.

It’s a downward strike using the edge, but I remain unfazed.

The Paladin User’s leg stretches out in front of him.

Now.

I readjust my grip on the Nodachi and extend it, driving it into the ground between his legs.

Thud!

I feel the tip of the Nodachi securely lodged in place.

I pull the Nodachi as I leap forward, almost throwing my body.

I’m close enough to the ground that I could say I’ve rolled on the floor.

Crunch-!

As the ground beneath the Nodachi flips over, it takes out the Paladin User’s left leg.

My intent was successful. The Paladin User’s body sways, beginning to lose balance.

Don’t stop; charge ahead.

As my body that had dashed on the ground rises up, attacks from the enemy Assassins come flying.

The first attack is the throwing stars spread across my field of vision.

Scattered everywhere, even the Paladin, my teammate, was caught in the range, but it wasn’t a threatening attack against the Paladin clad in heavy armor.

My calm gaze swiftly detects the direction of the throwing stars.

It felt no different from the reaction speed test game I had with Sohee.

As I let go of the Nodachi, I draw my dagger from my waist and swing it.

Slash-!

I deflect the attacks aimed at my vital points. Maximize efficiency with minimal movement.

I can’t dodge every attack.

Only the ones that threaten my life.

Thud- Thud-!

The throwing stars embedded in my shoulder and thigh cause a sharp sting.

But my movement doesn’t halt.

Now it’s the second Assassin’s turn.

He dashes toward me quickly, his dagger drawing a blue trail as it strikes at me.

It targets my chest, aiming for my heart.

Dodging is the best method, I think.

Yet sometimes, you have to make a gamble.

The Paladin User, whose posture had collapsed, is rising again.

Due to a lack of strength, I couldn’t completely knock him over.

I need to make a quick decision.

I shift the dagger in my hand, blocking my heart with the broader side.

I only need to endure the first impact.

What I need is just one chance.

Clang-!

As the massive shock reverberates toward my chest, the dagger tip that had been aimed at my heart shifts downward, plunging into my skin.

However, since I successfully deflected the first impact, the assassin’s blade pressing into me lacked force.

But I couldn’t just leave it.

I lift my dagger against the blade that slipped beneath and slammed it down.

Clang-!

Thud-!

The blade that had pierced my skin withdraws due to the impact from my dagger.

As my clothing tears and blood flows, the damage is still bearable.

The Assassin’s blade drops toward the ground.

Don’t stop; don’t doubt your actions for a second.

I’m moving toward victory.

The leg that extended forward steps on the Assassin’s blade.

Due to the downward force, his blade hits the ground.

As long as he doesn’t let go of his sword, it’ll serve as a firm support.

My light and small body, coupled with the agility stat pushed to the extremes, allows for incredible jumping power.

Now it’s time to show that here.

The moment I engage my legs, my body leaps up.

My quickly soaring figure flips and rotates.

The back tumbling utilizing the support is a success.

At that moment, the Paladin’s Morning Star crashes down where I had just stood.

Whoosh-!

The Morning Star cuts through the empty air.

It was a hurried swing from a unsteady position. The Paladin User looked up at me awkwardly.

I noticed his outstretched hand. The guy has no means left to stop me.

After a brief moment of hovering in the air, I descend.

The target is the gap in his helmet. With the dagger in hand, I finish my preparation to stab.

Swoosh-!

Swoosh-!

Swoosh-!

A quick and precise thrust.

As the dagger falls onto the Paladin User’s shoulder, I rapidly drive it down.

With each dive through the gap in his helmet, blood bursts from my dagger.

Enemy eliminated yeon1111 → API-Show

The moment I see the kill log pop up in the upper right corner, I leap toward the ground without hesitation.

Because I sensed a chilling threat from behind me.

Swoosh-!

A swift slice grazes past me sharply.

If I had hesitated for even a moment, I would have been badly wounded in the back.

Rolling on the ground, I survey my surroundings.

Only two enemies remain.

However, my main weapon, the Nodachi, is far away.

No matter how skilled I am, facing two Assassins with this short dagger comes close to impossible.

It seems they knew this too, as they slowly closed the distance, eyes glinting with intent.

In that moment, a kite shield lying on the ground catches my attention.

Even after the enemy’s death, the equipment remained exactly where it fell.

Perhaps-

At that moment, the two Assassins charged at me.

There was no time to hesitate.

I roll on the ground and grab the kite shield left behind by the Paladin User.

The reverse triangular kite shield has a decent weight to it.

But it’s not too heavy to use.

I immediately slipped my hand into the leather strap on the inside of the shield to hold it.

A ridiculously funny combination of shield and dagger emerged.

The enemy Assassins, perhaps thinking my dagger was a challenge, rushed at me one after the other.

I swiftly dash forward as their swords swing threateningly by my sides.

The combination of the shield in my left hand and the dagger in my right feels incredibly familiar.

That’s right.

I’ve returned.

Back to those days.

Recalling memories of being the party leader and main tank in Deron.

How long has it been since I held a shield?

I think back to when I was still a Paladin, enveloping my hands in holy light as I blocked all attacks from the front.

Familiar.

The stance changes.

I lower the sword in my hand and lift the shield.

The shield is kept just below my line of sight.

Swoosh-!

I advance toward the threatening strike instead.

The shield in my hand efficiently blocks all attack lines.

Clang-! Clang-!

The impact transferring through the shield is considerable.

Though I’m recalling how it felt back then, the conditions aren’t identical.

However, it’s far more stable than when I was just holding a dagger.

I even feel a deeper sense of security than when I held the Nodachi.

“Y-you crazy lady…”

Fear and urgency appeared in Melvin’s eyes, hidden behind the black mask.

Crazy, huh.

That’s a harsh word for a middle school girl.

I press forward, swinging my dagger.
