Another raid started without fail today.
All 40 party members arrived at the designated spot right on time, not a single one missing.
“Mmm…”
I smiled in satisfaction as I watched the diligent members of my party. While checking the supplies and potions needed for the raid once more, someone raised their hand among the party members.
A delicate, pale hand. A faint chill emanated from around it.
“Blood Demon King!”
The party member raising their hand was the Snow Mage.
“What’s up?”
“How did your new school go?”
What now? The Snow Mage’s question wasn’t related to the raid, but I couldn’t refuse to answer. Well, it was still before the raid started.
“I don’t know what you’re expecting, but… it’s probably not that fun?”
“Still, please tell me!”
Checking the time, I nodded. With about 5 minutes left until the raid began, a brief conversation wouldn’t hurt.
I started to recount the events since I entered school. The brutally steep stairs, the killer study load, and the mandatory club activities, all making me prefer Deron over reality—a hellish place for someone like me.
With her eyes sparkling with excitement, the Snow Mage’s expression turned gloomy as she listened to me.
It seemed she expected all the typical youthful romantic comedy experiences that happen in high school.
“So…”
Even though I tried to keep it brief, 5 minutes was ridiculously short to explain my high school life. Checking the time, I decided to keep my mouth shut.
7 PM. It was time to start the raid.
No more chit-chat from here on out.
“Alright, let’s get going!”
I clapped my hands to energize the atmosphere. The party members, who had been focused on me, sighed in disappointment, but they seemed determined not to speak anymore now that the raid had begun.
Together with my party members, I entered the Raid Dungeon.
Having defeated the third Named monster, it was time to take down the fourth.
Dogrik, our main tank, calmly paved the way and led us in front of the Named monster.
Of course, I was behind summoning my Duck Bombs and tossing them like grenades.
Quack!
“Ducks…?”
“I guess the party leader was feeling bored.”
“Ducks are quite cute.”
“Did you change your build again?”
Listening to the party’s questions and conversations, I let out a smirk. They had no idea how powerful my Duck Bomb build was.
Vampire!
Cute girl!
Bombs!
The perfect build was born.
I swept my hair back and let out a silent chuckle.
“Are you having strange thoughts again…?”
“Party leader, please stop summoning the ducks… it’s so noisy…”
Ignoring all the party members’ remarks, I forged ahead. The crimson cloak billowing behind me was a symbol of my majesty.
Following Dogrik’s lead, we arrived in a small prayer room.
Inside the prayer room, a bizarre humanoid Named monster was in prayer.
[Nun Iona]
How many people could even call that thing a nun?
With blood-red skin and grotesquely protruding fangs, the lumpy body had arms that deformed grotesquely, dragging along the ground.
[Ah, you have come… adventurers…]
The Nun Iona noticed us, stood up, and spoke.
Surprisingly, despite her horrific appearance, her voice flowed like that of a very graceful woman.
Mucus that didn’t match her voice dripped from her wide-open mouth.
[I was waiting for you…]
“Shall we proceed?”
Dogrik frowned at Iona’s dialogue and asked me.
“No way!”
“Just a little more!”
It seemed the party members interested in the story wanted to hear more of Iona’s tale.
I shook my head at Dogrik and spoke.
“Just wait a moment. Let’s hear what she has to say in the meantime.”
“Gasp…”
“The party leader didn’t skip?”
“Are you feeling alright?”
“Maybe becoming a high school student has made your heart bigger?”
“But you’re still too young…?”
[I have seen… another world like this one… I was there…]
The reason I was listening to Iona’s words wasn’t that I had a special reason. I just needed time to summon my ducks.
“Can one of the sub-healers give me a heal?”
“Ah, yes!”
Before the battle began, I spent all my mana summoning ducks. Right after that, I gulped down a potion and summoned more ducks.
Next up was Blood Magic.
The moment I used Blood Magic, crimson effects rose from beneath my feet.
“Keep healing me if my health drops.”
“Understood!”
Thus, I began to expend health points to summon my ducks. The maximum number of ducks I could summon while receiving healing was 200.
When I summoned about 190, I shouted to Dogrik and the party members.
“Get ready for battle!”
[Adventurers, that’s why…]
“Wait! Almost done!”
“Yaaah!”
Dogrik did not hesitate even at the frantic voice of a party member.
He is a party member. Naturally, he would have to follow the party leader’s orders.
Dogrik charged forward and plunged his sword into the massive body of Iona.
Crash!
[Aaaargh!!!]
And thus, the battle began.
Iona screamed horrifically, swinging her massive arms like windmills.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Now was the time.
There was no more room to hesitate.
“Go!”
Quack!
The army of my Duck Bombs, responding to my command, charged and began to latch onto Nun Iona’s body.
Quack! Quack! Quack!
“Dogrik! Fall back a bit!”
The area of the chain explosion is quite large.
As fellow party members, they wouldn’t take too much damage, but the aftermath of the explosion could disrupt their stance.
Seeing Dogrik retreating, I unleashed a magical engineering bomb straight ahead.
Whoosh!
The transparent bomb flew through the air and exploded when it encountered the ducks scampering across the ground.
Boom-! Kaboom!
The explosion sound spread in an instant.
Simultaneously, Iona’s health began to dwindle.
The DPS shot up to the sky, and so did the aggro.
Immediately, I used [Ice Shield].
Crack!
Cold ice surged from beneath my feet.
Due to the racial trait known as True Blood, the ice encasing my body formed a shape akin to a dark ruby.
The wizard was considered overpowered mainly because of this [Ice Shield] skill.
The Ice Shield had a short cooldown, and its efficiency in PvP was no joke. Its capabilities in PvE were astounding as well.
A wizard encased in ice, being immobilized, receives a very special effect.
[Combat Location Exit]
In other words, it means all monsters’ aggro values are reset.
As the aggro that had skyrocketed in an instant dropped to 0, Iona, who had turned towards me, now redirected her focus to beating up Dogrik.
I checked Iona’s health beyond the icy shield.
200 Duck Bombs whittled away 10% of Iona’s health.
Considering the preparation time, that’s not the damage a regular dealer should deal.
If the operations team spots this, I’ll certainly be nerfed.
“No… crazy…”
“Didn’t we just start combat 10 seconds ago?”
“Iona just lost 10% of her health?”
The party members, awestruck by the true strength of the Duck Bombs, looked at me with incredulous expressions.
Whoosh-!
As the duration of the Ice Shield ended, the ice shattered.
I stepped out and let out a small laugh.
“Cough cough…”
Quack! Quack!
The summoning of ducks didn’t cease.
As the ducks I summoned diligently marched over to Iona’s vicinity, they unfailingly tossed more bombs.
Boom-! Kaboom-!
While not as grand an explosion as before, the Duck Bombs steadily chipped away at Iona’s health.
The battle continued, and finally, the cooldown for the Ice Shield returned.
“Get ready to heal!”
I started pouring out my Duck Quackers again, giving it my all.
Quack! Quack! Quack!
The cooldown for the Ice Shield is 1 minute.
It takes 30 seconds to summon 200 ducks while receiving healing.
If I started summoning ducks when the cooldown for the Ice Shield was halfway, I could wipe out 10% of the Named Iona’s health once every minute.
And so, the second wave of 200 ducks charged.
“Go!”
Quack! Quack!
As the swiftly running ducks reached Iona, they tossed the magical engineering bombs.
Boom-! Kaboom-!
A massive chain explosion erupted, causing Iona’s health to plummet in an instant.
I immediately used the Ice Shield to reset my aggro.
[Ugh…]
Three minutes into the battle, Iona remained at 75% health.
As her health diminished, she curled up, and pale moonlight began to shower down from the sky.
[Ah… Moonlight guiding me…]
The wounded Named monster suddenly blurted out a line and changed her stance.
This was not a typical pattern. It signified that Iona’s second phase had begun.
The nun, with her grotesque blood-red appearance, fully embraced the moonlight falling upon her.
“Kill her! Attack now!”
A forced pattern change meant it was time to deal damage.
I shouted loudly from my icy prison.
At that moment, dual Holy Swords danced to the ground from the moonlight before Iona, who had spread her arms wide.
Clang!
[That’s right… in that world, I was a warrior…]
“Dual swords…?”
Someone in my party muttered.
Indeed, the swords falling from the sky were dual swords.
Iona, now wielding the glimmering twin blades of moonlight, assumed a low stance.
She was going to charge forward.
Her gaze was fixed directly on me.
A sense of foreboding filled my mind.
Crack!
The duration of my Ice Shield came to an end.
The moment I emerged from the ice, Iona, who had been crouching, suddenly burst into a furious dash.
Boom!
As she stomped the ground, the entire area flipped upside down.
Her straight-line charge sent everything in front flying away.
Dogrik and the sub-tank ran swiftly, but Iona’s speed far exceeded theirs.
I frowned and activated [Time Acceleration] skill.
On top of that, I used Blink skill.
I created a significant gap, but Iona kept gaining on me.
“This…”
Crash!
A cold moonlight blade pierced my shoulder.
Even after embedding her sword in my body, Iona did not stop.
Boom!
With my shoulder skewered, I was dragged towards her.
Before I knew it, we reached a small altar prepared inside the prayer room.
Iona thrust my body onto the altar along with the Holy Sword.
[Ah… Lunaris, I shall offer this flesh to you…]
“What…? Flesh?”
Iona answered my question with the other Holy Sword from the opposite side.
Crash!
“Ugh!”
Both my shoulders were pierced by Iona.
I writhed on the altar and shouted to my party.
“Help me!!!”
