9 PM on a weekday.
As the typical quitting hour approached, most people were finally able to log into the game.
I started surveying the participation of guild members for the Raid of the Watchers of Doom.
Total number of guild members online: 220.
Out of those, a solid 200 were ready for the Raid.
The remaining 20 expressed their regrets, claiming they couldn’t play for long.
“Hmm…”
In the guild’s meeting room, I settled into a comfy chair and stroked my chin.
A ship can’t be operated alone.
You might manage the driving, but you definitely need crew members to utilize various attack systems.
Doing a quick calculation, if we grouped the 200 guild members into teams of 10, that would only yield 20 ships.
I had seen it. More than 10 ships had been destroyed in an instant.
So, we definitely needed more people.
“Iyap, could you please check the ship grades within the guild for now?”
“Sure!”
As expected, detailed investigations were Iyap’s specialty. I smiled in satisfaction at Iyap’s eager nod.
“What should I do!”
The one who raised her hand and shouted was the Snow Mage.
Although she was seated as a guild officer, I didn’t assign her any specific tasks.
“Just wait for now.”
“Okay!”
Her enthusiastic replies were always nice.
I quickly opened my friend list and started crafting messages to close guild leaders.
I was planning a Raid and needed many users to participate.
I didn’t mention the items dropped by the Raid boss.
The really important items would automatically go into the gold bidding system, and any minor items would be evenly distributed among all users.
The old method where the party leader snatched items first before auctioning them off was a thing of the past.
Thinking about the daily improvements in Deron made me feel a bit proud.
“Ship survey is done.”
Amid the conversations with the guild leaders, Iyap’s voice caught my attention.
Did he really finish surveying so many ships in such a short time?
As expected from Iyap, who managed the raid and guild sheets with precision.
“Good job.”
Iyap nodded at my praise and brought up a semi-transparent window in front of me.
It was a chart detailing the types of ships within our Soft & Chewy Cow Guild.
Ships rated from levels 1 to 5 were considered small vessels.
Most of the cheaper ships fell into this line, with about 60% of guild members owning these small ships.
Next up were the medium ships rated from levels 6 to 10.
37% of guild members owned medium vessels.
As for the large ships rated from levels 11 to 15? Only 3% of guild members had them.
Part of me wanted to tell the guild members to craft large ships, but considering the massive amount of gold involved, that wasn’t an option.
“Hmm…”
Honestly, I didn’t think small ships would be helpful.
If you boarded a ship that could burst apart with a single fin slap, you’d end up losing your life along with it.
I adjusted the team composition and began assigning guild members to medium or higher grade ships.
This would be my first encounter with a new Raid boss.
The confirmed patterns were very limited.
If my assumptions were correct, it would likely have a pattern for summoning elite monsters.
It had been the same with Karaken, so my hunch was probably spot on.
Thus, I had to mix tanks, dealers, and healers appropriately on each ship.
There wasn’t much time. We had to move quickly.
We weren’t the only ones targeting the field boss’s raid.
I frowned as I coordinated opinions with several guild leaders.
As time passed, some guilds clearly expressed their willingness to participate.
The list of guilds joining us for the Raid was as follows:
[Ramji Thunder] – One of the long-standing galleries of the Gel Guild, it was Deron’s oldest guild.
Participating members: 250.
[Cheonpung] – One of the guilds that had previously allied with ours; under the management of a guy named Ji-hak, it still maintained its guild lineage.
Participating members: 170.
[Turtle Is Touching The Sea] – Known as the Turtle Guild, with a guild leader nicknamed Turtle as well. Like Cheonpung Guild, this was one of the guilds that had previously collaborated with ours. Now, the guild was on decline, and only 50 members were joining the Raid.
[Slow Forest] – The guild Jupiter is currently part of; it was a very quiet guild with calm users.
I had some connections with the guild leader, so after giving a hint, they agreed to participate alongside Jupiter.
Participating members: 10.
That was the limit of the members I could gather.
I even shot a message to the sanity-checking old man from the Requiem Guild, but he replied with a “not participating” and exited the game.
Thanks to the previous ties with the Satan Guild, the guild’s reputation had plummeted, and it seemed they weren’t able to operate properly now.
I talked to some other small guild leaders, but they all showed signs of backing out.
It seemed my comment about the ships potentially blowing up had scared them away.
So, another Soft & Chewy [Temporary] Alliance was formed.
I stood up and shouted.
“Gather the guild members!”
It had been quite some time since I last acted as the Alliance Leader.
Filled with excitement, I dashed out of the guild hideout, sporting a pirate hat.
“Ahem…”
At the front of the guild hideout, seeing the lined-up guild members made my heart race.
These were all the people who believed in me, gathered before me, willing to lay down their lives at my command – the Soft & Chewy Cow Guild members.
Of course, that was within the context of the game.
I placed my hands on my waist and addressed the guild members.
“Let’s summon the ships and move out. We’re supposed to meet the temporary alliance members in the dimensional rift.”
As I finished speaking, I couldn’t help but lift the corners of my mouth.
Honestly, I’d been waiting for this moment.
A chance to showcase the roar of the Deathwing, our joint ship with Helena, a level 15 ship.
A perfectly timed opportunity to boast.
I offered a silent prayer of thanks to the whale floating in space.
“Come forth!”
I raised both hands and shouted.
A summoning chant distinctly different from the usual mounts like Eurlang or Piyaki.
With a short yet impressively composed appearance, all eyes were on the guild members.
“Come forth…?”
“Did summoning need a chant?”
“Isn’t he the guild leader? Just pretend you didn’t hear him.”
“Should we clap for him?”
I heard everything.
Ignoring the guild members’ comments, I cleared my throat and shifted my gaze to the air.
At that instant, a massive ship appeared, shining brilliantly.
Made entirely of white dragon bones, it was the majestic Deathwing owned by both Helena and me.
“Wow…”
“Give him applause! What are you doing!”
“Waaah!!!”
Did you see that? Did you marvel at it?
Riding a mount that was different from regular users brought a tremendous sense of satisfaction.
“Heh…”
More, more applause please.
And more gazes of envy.
I had the right to receive all of that.
“Yeo.”
“Oh, Helena.”
“Are you okay?”
“I—I have to ride it… just a little later.”
“Hmm…”
Helena tilted her head at my answer and used Blink to move onto the ship.
“Guild Leader, aren’t you coming?”
“Are you asking me to ask for more applause?”
“I’m starting to get tired…”
I should start moving soon.
I turned dramatically and jumped onto the ship.
With overwhelming physical stats, I could leap dozens of meters in a single bound.
Tap—
“Hah…”
The landing was nothing short of perfect.
It was a shame that the guild members wouldn’t see my stylish form, but I wasn’t worried since I had taken a screenshot of the landing moment.
Once I changed my IP and secretly uploaded it to the Deron Gallery, I’d be in the “concept post.”
I checked the screenshot and nodded in satisfaction.
If it got on the concept post, the link to it would naturally appear in the guild chat.
In other words, I could casually brag to the guild members about my fantastic self.
“Hmm…”
I crossed my arms and glanced around the interior of the ship.
Although all the guild members had just begun boarding their ships, some had already made it inside.
The ones on board included myself as the main captain and Helena as the vice-captain.
Next was the Snow Mage, who was a battle member managing the ship’s gunfire.
Hwarang was assigned the same role as the Snow Mage.
Finally, the healer Chloe would also be boarding.
Iyap was on another ship.
He had made his own level 15 ship separately.
Had Iyap’s ship been at a lower level, I would’ve definitely put him on this ship to handle driving.
What a pity.
“Blood Demon King! It seems we are ready!!!”
The Snow Mage shouted enthusiastically.
She was also sporting a pirate hat like mine.
Indeed, she was the only one who catered to such minute details without being told.
I nodded in satisfaction and shouted.
“Set out!”
I drew the Demon Sword from my back and shouted loudly.
Immediately, the Deathwing began to take off.
As its enormous wings flapped, it surged forward, followed by an army of over a dozen ships.
From at least medium to large ships.
“Hey.”
Just before entering the dimensional rift, Hwarang approached me.
“What’s up, fellow child of blood?”
“… What’s that about…?”
“State your purpose.”
“How’d you get that ship?”
As Hwarang said that, he tapped the floor of the ship with his foot.
“By saving up gold…”
“The raid season just ended. I know you spent gold on equipment along with the party members. Did you rob a bunch of gold rush wagons or something?”
“N—No…?”
Hwarang stared at me, seemingly having a realization.
He then turned his back.
His gaze settled above the head of the Deathwing.
Where Helena was standing all alone.
“You…”
“Uh, it’s half, you know?”
“Half?”
“Yeah, half. Helena and I agreed to share it.”
“What the heck…?”
“This ship is co-owned by Helena and me.”
“Co-owned…”
“Exactly.”
I nodded in agreement and narrowed my eyes at Hwarang.
Thinking back, why had I been so troubled?
I built this ship alongside Helena, spending my own gold, so what was he getting at?
“Crazy girl… are you going to co-own a house now too?”
“Why a house?”
What does the house have to do with anything?
Just as I tilted my head, questioning Hwarang, Helena suddenly appeared between us in a flash of light.
She must have used Blink to zip over.
“Oppa.”
“Oh, Helena.”
“Did you do well on the test?”
“Well… I did, but… it’s because of the seniors.”
“Are you worried about getting pushed back in line?”
“That’s right…”
“That won’t happen.”
“Oh… really? Wasn’t that the custom? Seniors go first…”
“When the representatives and supervisors change, the customs will change too.”
What kind of conversation are they having?
Important details were missing, so I had no clue what had transpired between them.
Frowning, I leaned closer to Helena.
“Congrats?”
With that, Helena tugged me along.
I looked back at Hwarang, who seemed about to say something.
But he shook his head and turned away as if it didn’t matter.
What secrets lay within the conversation shared between the two?
As I climbed onto the head of the Deathwing alongside Helena, I cautiously opened my mouth.
“What was that earlier about?”
“What about it?”
“The part about the representative changing.”
“You’ll find out if you wait.”
She clearly had no intention of revealing anything right now.
I frowned and turned away.
At that moment, the massive ship crossed the dimensional rift, arriving in a dazzling space.
