Your Commander-in-Chief – Chapter 320

It had been a while since I rolled around in bed.

I finally crawled out around 10 AM.

“Ugh…!”

Stretching as if to ease my stiff body, I exited my room.

In the living room, an empty coffee cup left behind by Sohee sat all alone.

It’s been a month since I moved here.

My mornings start with Sohee preparing lunch.

First, I head to the bathroom to take a shower, then I rummage through the fridge while drying my hair.

“Hmm…”

Thanks to Sohee catching me and dragging me around all day after coming home last night, I hadn’t prepared anything that took much effort.

In the end, all I pulled out from the fridge was some vegetables and a little meat.

I thought I’d make fried rice with that, along with rolled eggs and Vienna sausages.

Just as I donned my apron, the doorbell rang.

Ding-dong!

Who could it be?

The delivery guys on the first floor usually handle packages, so it couldn’t be that.

Neither could it be food delivery.

I hurried over to the front door.

“Who is it?”

I peered at the intercom screen to see who was at the door.

A large figure with broad shoulders.

Scruffy hair and a fierce look.

I recognized him instantly.

Standing at the door was Harang.

[It’s me.]

“What… why are you here?”

[Open the door.]

I looked at Harang with suspicion.

Why on earth is he here so early in the morning?

Sohee had told me not to open the door for anyone but her…

But he is family, after all.

Even if Harang looks like a thug and has a terrible personality, he’s still my only brother.

So opening the door wouldn’t put me at any real risk.

I swallowed a dry gulp and opened the door.

“Uh, what brings you here?”

“Mom… you…?”

As soon as I opened the door, Harang attempted to barge in.

His eyes quickly scanned the inside of the house before landing on me.

And his eyes widened.

It seemed my wearing an apron was quite a surprise.

“What’s with the apron?”

“I was preparing lunchboxes.”

“Lunchboxes…?”

“Yep.”

“Is it for Sohee?”

“Yep.”

“Wow…”

“Is that something to be amazed about?”

“Would you not be? That girl is turning into a person.”

“That girl?”

“Anyway, I’m coming in.”

Ignoring my gaze, Harang kicked off his shoes and strode into the living room.

I hurried after him.

He seems to have grown even taller in the short time I hadn’t seen him.

Does he now look about 190 cm? Or is that just my imagination?

“Why are you here?”

“Oh, this.”

Harang raised his right hand.

What he showed me was a large brown plastic container.

“What’s that?”

“Kimchi.”

“Huh…”

I hurriedly took the container he offered.

The moment I accepted it with both hands, I felt its heavy weight.

I staggered slightly but managed to hold it.

“Wow, you brought a lot…”

Did he really carry this heavy thing with just one hand?

I looked at him with an awkward gaze.

In Deron, whenever there was something heavy to lift, it was usually Harang asking me for help.

Reality and the game are so different.

Nodding, I placed the kimchi container into the fridge.

Seeing it fitting snugly into the previously empty kimchi storage made me feel a little proud.

Harang, who had watched me the whole time, turned around and began to walk away.

Thinking he was done and ready to leave, I was about to say goodbye when he casually pulled out a chair nearby and plopped down.

It seemed he had no intention of leaving just yet.

“What are you doing?”

“What does it look like? You said you were making lunchboxes, right? Make one for me.”

“Are you crazy?”

“I’m hungry.”

“Get out now.”

“I’m telling you, I’m hungry.”

“Ugh…”

Harang seemed completely uninterested in leaving.

Look at that sly grin.

He looked like he planned to snag a bite from the lunchbox I made for Sohee.

“You brought me kimchi since morning and you don’t want to cook breakfast for me too? Wow, thanks a lot…”

“Ugh… just leave!”

“I won’t leave until you cook something for me.”

This crazy dude.

I stomped toward Harang, trying to drag him away.

But in reality, I’m just a frail, powerless girl.

I lacked the strength to throw Harang, who is towering over me.

I tried pulling his arms, tried kicking his shins.

But Harang didn’t budge an inch.

If only this were Deron… if only…

I swallowed my rising frustration and sighed.

“I’ll cook for you, so just eat and leave right away.”

In the end, I’d surrendered.

I headed to the fridge and started pulling out more ingredients.

Harang eats a lot.

Tremendously, like a pig.

“What’s on the menu?”

“Fried rice… rolled eggs.”

“Ooh~”

Ooh, right!

I stepped on a stool to grab the wok and said, “You’ll eat and leave right, huh?”

“Uh-huh.”

“Promise?”

“Uh-huh.”

The meal was meant solely for Sohee, yet somehow it was ending up in that pig’s mouth.

I frowned and began to pour oil into the wok, preparing to make fried rice.

As I lacked strength, it was all about brute force this time.

I just worked hard.

I tossed in the prepared vegetables and meat, sautéing them lightly to bring out their flavors.

Next was the rice.

After a good stir, fried rice was done.

I scooped a reasonable amount onto a bowl and brought it over to Harang.

“Eat.”

“Am I supposed to eat it?”

“Then don’t.”

“I will eat it.”

He was going to eat it anyway while making a fuss.

I turned my back on Harang, who was starting on the fried rice, and began the next task.

This time, I was making rolled eggs.

It was my first recipe learned from mom, so I needed to nail it.

“Here we go!”

I cracked the eggs into a bowl and whisked them vigorously.

As I was fervently preparing the rolled eggs, Harang’s voice came from behind me.

“Did you really make this?”

“Of course, who else would?”

“Be honest, you didn’t just pull out some frozen fried rice, did you?”

He threw a pointless question, even after watching everything.

Ignoring Harang’s question, I focused on preparing the next dish.

This time, it was Vienna sausages.

Just slapped them in a frying pan with oil and fried them up.

Once all dishes were ready, I took out a pretty lunchbox from the shelf and started placing the food inside.

“Hehe…”

Imagining Sohee’s delighted face upon receiving this lunchbox brought an automatic smile to my face.

“It’d be better if Harang wasn’t around.”

I sighed and scooped up the leftover fried rice to hand over to Harang.

“What about the rolled eggs?”

“None. I only made it for Sohee.”

“Then give me some Vienna sausages.”

I nodded, scooping some sausages from the frying pan and placing them on Harang’s plate.

Surely, that should satisfy him now?

I put my hands on my hips and glared at Harang.

I glared for a while.

Harang cleared his plate, and with a satisfied smile, he nodded his head.

“Finished? Can I go?”

“I will go.”

Harang nodded at my words and sprang up from his seat.

“Thanks for the meal.”

Watching Harang leave the house, I let out a sigh of relief.

After he stepped out, I grabbed the lunchbox and prepared to leave 30 minutes later.

Before heading out, I checked my appearance one last time in the full-length mirror.

The combination of a black dress and pristine white stockings.

With my base being pretty, anything I throw on looks cute.

I gently brushed down my thighs and stepped outside.

The path to the school where Sohee would be waiting for me felt comfortable.

I got into the car and selected my destination.

Sitting comfortably inside the moving car, all I had to do was wait.

After arriving at the designated spot and having the car stop, I rolled down the window and looked outside.

I was scanning for Sohee, who would always be waiting in her usual spot in front of the school.

But oddly enough, I couldn’t spot her anywhere.

“Huh…”

Did something happen?

I tilted my head and pulled out my phone to send a message to Sohee.

Hayun – [Sohee, where are you?]

Sohee – [I’m busy for a moment… did you arrive already?]

Right after sending it, I received a swift response.

I checked the message and sighed in relief.

Hayun – [Yeah, I’m right here.]

Sohee – [I’ll be out in a moment. Wait for me.]

Usually, I would wait as Sohee asked, but today for some reason, I really wanted to see the inside of her school.

Though I had brought lunchboxes all this time, I had never once stepped inside the school.

Clutching the lunchbox, I stepped out of the car.

“Wow…”

The fresh spring breeze was delightful as I walked past the school entrance and into the campus.

After leisurely exploring near the entrance for a while, I finally spotted a familiar figure walking toward me from afar.

“Sohee!”

With excitement, I raised my hand and called out.

But I didn’t run. I didn’t want to mess up the lunchbox I was carrying.

I walked gracefully towards Sohee.

“I was waiting in the car…”

“I wanted to see the school, so I came out.”

“Hmm… what’s for lunch today?”

“Fried rice, rolled eggs, and Vienna sausages.”

Sohee beamed at my words, cherishing the lunchbox in her arms.

Usually, Sohee would have taken care of lunch in the car, but perhaps remembering my desire to explore the school, she headed toward a nearby bench.

Thus began our lunch time.

I smiled watching Sohee enjoy her meal.

After a while of focusing on the lunchbox, She finally seemed to notice my outfit, her eyes sparkling with excitement.

“You’re wearing a dress!”

I, who usually only wear tracksuits, was now in a dress.

That meant only one thing.

Yes. I was trying to entice Sohee.

“Isn’t it pretty…?”

I lightly adjusted the straps on my shoulders, watching Sohee’s reaction.

In that moment, the thin straps slipped slightly.

The hem of the dress slid gently down, exposing my shoulder widely.

For a second, Sohee’s gaze wavered.

I could sense it with her heightened sensitivity.

Her eyes widened, and her heartbeat quickened.

The spring breeze brought in the scent of Sohee, stronger than usual.

Sohee was more excited than ever.
