Deron Online’s app had a feature that allowed players to check the auction house items and their prices in real-time.
It was a truly helpful system that let you see item listings even when you couldn’t log into the game.
I stared blankly at my phone screen. Just as I expected, the price of Divine Blessing was steadily dropping.
Refreshing the auction house listings caused a flood of new Divine Blessing items to appear.
Since it was an easy-to-get event item, a massive surplus had built up in the game.
If only I had sold off all my Divine Blessings before I knew about this situation…
If I had bought back the cheaper Divine Blessings with the gold I had earned…
Of course, now that was all meaningless speculation.
Rumors had already begun spreading that Divine Blessing couldn’t be used in raids anymore. The price was plummeting uncontrollably.
The value of Divine Blessing wasn’t completely lost. It had just become unusable in raids; in typical fields and Conquest content, it would still demonstrate its remarkable performance.
I wanted to believe that this overflow of items was just a temporary phenomenon.
“What are you staring at?”
“Ah… Sohee.”
Had she really just returned from the bathroom?
Sohee was beaming at me with a bright smile.
“I’m just… feeling a bit down.”
I mumbled while showing Sohee the screen of my phone.
The price fluctuation graph in the auction house displayed just how much Divine Blessing had dropped overnight.
It had dropped by 50%.
The 100,000 Divine Blessings I held, worth 7,000 gold, had its value chopped in half.
It hesitated at the 50% mark, but I felt it would drop further.
The speed of item listings piling up exceeded the speed at which people were buying Divine Blessings.
“It’s just a temporary situation.”
“I know that…”
“It’ll recover somewhat in a week, won’t it?”
“Will it…?”
“Yeah.”
But even with Sohee’s comforting words, my heart wasn’t easily soothed.
I groaned while looking at my phone screen.
If I had sold my Divine Blessings before they plummeted and bought them back now, I could’ve made a fortune…
What a shame.
*
Upon returning home, I immediately logged into the game.
There were about 20 minutes left until the scheduled time.
While browsing the auction house, I let out a sigh.
There was nothing I could do right now.
At least it was fortunate that the party members had quickly cleared the Divine Blessing listings.
I pushed aside my thoughts about Divine Blessing, checked the dopes and buffs I would use for the raid, and headed to the raid dungeon.
Arriving just in time, all the party members were already gathered.
Yesterday, we ran out of time and couldn’t defeat the final boss, but today would be different.
“Did everyone review the video recordings? I’m counting on it.”
I scanned the faces of the party members.
I also rewatched the recorded video until I fell asleep on my bed.
I meticulously checked to see if there were any changed patterns or anything I might have missed, my eyes shining all night.
At the entrance of the raid dungeon, in addition to our raid party, members from other raid parties were also milling about.
Seeing them made my heart race.
“Let’s go in.”
I entered the raid dungeon with my party members.
And of course, I didn’t forget to jump as we entered.
With a leap, I hopped in lightly, and applause erupted from behind me in admiration.
Is teasing such a cool Party Leader that fun?
I turned my head quickly after catching sight of the smirks of the party members.
Last night, we had cleared every named monster except for the final boss, so the path inside the dungeon was wide open.
We walked straight toward the final boss.
[Fallen Sun God Sola]
The massive black giant stood right where he had been yesterday.
“Proceed to engage.”
Having finished all preparations before entering the raid dungeon, we directly entered the boss room.
As the main tank pulled out his shield and began to step forward, Sola’s gaze shifted to the tank.
The giant’s fist collided with the sword of the knight clad in full plate armor.
The shockwave spread widely, and in that instant, Sola’s aggros were firmly fixed onto the main tank.
“DPS!”
Before I even shouted at the dealers, the attacks were already primed.
Gleaming magic sliced through the air, pouring down behind the giant, while I and other melee dealers clung to the giant’s legs, swinging our weapons wildly.
When Sola’s health reached 95%, the body of the black giant began to glow brightly. A continuous pattern triggered to shake off the melee dealers.
Me and the other melee dealers who had been assaulting the giant’s ankle tactically retreated.
At that moment, a black shockwave exploded outward from Sola’s body.
While this pattern couldn’t inflict much damage on the tank, it could wipe out a fragile class like a thief in one hit.
Time flowed, and when Sola’s health reached 80%, the second pattern began.
A curse lightning pattern dropping at ten-second intervals.
Similar to the pattern of the holy dragon Sunforce.
Taken one by one, the pattern wasn’t particularly tough.
However, when such interruptive patterns stack continuously, users often make unexpected mistakes.
As Sola’s health hit 70%, the body of the black giant vanished and was summoned to the center of the boss room.
He raised both arms high to the sky and shouted.
[I will demonstrate my true power of the sun!]
Immediately after Sola’s dialogue finished, an enormous black sun appeared in the sky.
The sinister black sun soon began to rain down area attacks towards the ground.
Although they marked the places where attacks would land with red circles, the range was so vast that dodging became critical.
“Don’t get greedy for DPS! Survival is a must!”
Sola, having summoned the black sun, did nothing.
That meant we could deal damage until this pattern concluded, but that wasn’t as easy as it sounded.
In the sky, the black sun continued to rain area attacks, and the continuously appearing curse black lightning also haunted the dealers.
Of course, there were still party members who were dealing damage in that situation.
These were the warlocks applying continuous dot damage, Hwarang, Helena, and Iyap.
Among them, the one who inflicted the strongest damage was Hwarang.
The archer’s advanced class musketeer had relatively short cooldowns on all skills.
If he’d preloaded his ammo, he could fire while moving, which was a massive advantage.
Hwarang didn’t stop. He dodged the black lightning and the sun’s area attacks while his white bullets rained down continuously.
I too swung my sword without falling behind.
Using Berserker’s unique overwhelming mobility and my innate talent, I dodged all patterns with just a hair’s breadth.
There was no need for detailed calculations. I just moved my body and swung my sword according to instinct.
It was alright to take a hit. My class wasn’t as fragile as a thief, so I could at least withstand one hit.
Of course, I didn’t receive healing.
I had potions and healing from my paladin class.
In other words, my survivability was quite good compared to ordinary damage dealers.
As the black sun pattern passed, Sola began to kneel, groaning.
Then, he scattered the black energy imbued with his strength in all directions.
The dispersed black essence fell to the ground, wriggling and starting to form into black knights.
This was Sola’s fallen paladin summoning pattern.
I bit my lip.
If I could use Divine Blessing here, I could have overwhelmed the black sun pattern and this paladin summoning pattern wouldn’t have appeared.
Fallen paladins were trickier than regular elite monsters.
They used healing skills and shield skills that regular users could access, so we had to keep our distance from the boss.
Here, I needed to die.
That way, we could easily pass through the pattern.
As the sub-tank started gathering the fallen paladins for dribbling, I executed my jump smash skill and leaped into their midst.
Immediately, I activated the Berserk buff and the Wheel Wind skill.
Like a skill that boasted massive DPS, the health of the elite monsters, the fallen paladins, began to rapidly deplete.
However, immediately after that, an overwhelming number of attacks flew at me.
Sharp blades slashed at my arms and legs from all sides, and a sword pierced through my abdomen.
Even with healing, I couldn’t endure this attack, so I was destined to die.
But I held on. The skill [Combat Continuation] activated, rendering me in a state of immortality.
With my health fixed at 1, I immediately activated the next skill.
BAM!
Swinging my massive sword down to the ground, the bodies of the paladins were sent soaring into the air.
Immediately after, the slashing skill [Rampage] was unleashed.
As the dazzling crimson trails sliced through the bodies of the paladins, my vision was tinted gray, and my body collapsed.
Due to the Berserker’s unique passive, I could deal high damage to targets with high defense.
The paladins lay on the ground in tatters, their armor shredded and crumpled.
Of course, they didn’t die. They had around 20% health remaining.
Helena’s Meteor dealt the finishing blow.
A giant meteor fell from the sky, incinerating the fallen paladins in an instant.
After waiting for about 10 seconds in that state, the gray-tinted vision cleared.
The healers had used their resurrection skills on me.
The flow was good. Up until now, no one had made a mistake.
A sigh of relief escaped me, and Sola’s health was steadily decreasing.
When Sola’s health dropped to 30%, he used the black sun pattern again.
The same situation repeated. It was a sign that a clear victory was in sight.
And right after the black sun pattern ended, the summoning pattern activated once more.
The black essence scattered in all directions, and the fallen paladins slowly revealed themselves.
But there was one notable difference from before.
Among the newly appearing fallen paladins, there was a larger figure than the others.
It even had a name. It meant it wasn’t just an elite monster, but a named monster.
[Order Commander Executioner Crow]
I quickly checked his specs.
For a named monster, he didn’t have a lot of health. Just about twice that of the regular elite paladins.
If I used the same strategy of sacrificing myself and reviving, I could get through easily.
It was fine if we didn’t defeat Crow. As long as the sub-tank was alive, he could hold him for a bit.
The sub-tank began gathering the summoned paladins as before.
Right after, I dove into the nicely clustered group of paladins.
BAM!
All the paladins fell under a massive area stun, while I immediately started using Wheel Wind to shred their health.
Everything was going smoothly. Or so I thought.
As soon as the stun’s duration ended, the paladins’ blades started flying towards me.
Though I managed to dodge some of the attacks while moving during Wheel Wind, I couldn’t avoid them all.
My full health plummeted and fixed at 1.
As the Wheel Wind’s effect wore off, a knight scattering black photons charged through the red whirlwinds.
“Yah!”
With a frantic scream, I swung my sword to block the attack, but it was my sword that got deflected.
A bare upper body was exposed before me, and the named monster raised his sword high.
Executioner Crow pierced my heart with his holy sword.
THUD!
The immortal duration hadn’t ended yet.
But my vision turned gray.
A special monster pattern that prevented me from receiving a resurrection from the priest in this battle.
[Execution] had appeared. This pattern did not exist in my memory.
