“What the…?”

On my way home, I stumbled upon an announcement on the Deron homepage.

The update timing felt way too quick. How long has it been since the release of the new expansion pack, and now there’s a new area?

I never expected my frown to disappear.

Hell.

It was an area that didn’t exist in the past world of Deron.

Plus, the addition of the [Death Knight] and [Hell Priest] classes that were only present as dummy data.

The Demon Clan reincarnation system was also a feature that didn’t exist in the previous world of Deron.

Update day. Many users were heading to the Adventurers’ Guild to take on quests for the new area.

I too was heading to the Adventurers’ Guild to complete the quest.

The newly added area, Hell, was a zone where PVP could happen throughout.

So, the items obtainable there were likely to have all sorts of PVP-related options.

“Hmm… You there. You look pretty tough. Interested in a new adventure?”

As I approached the Adventurers’ Guild, an NPC handing out quests spoke to me.

I nodded in response.

“Good. I like a quick talker. You do know about that recent incident where Hell invaded this Capital City, right?”

“I know.”

“Right, we can’t just sit back and take it, can we?”

“What’s the plan then?”

“Well, we’ve found a way to open a gate to Hell. It’s our turn to strike back.”

The NPC handed me a silver medallion.

“Here. If you show this medallion, you can use the gate to Hell. Once you get there, seek out Sir Crow. He’ll provide much help.”

[Hell Mana Tracking – Part One.]

Use the gate to hell 0/1

The moment the quest updated, the NPC turned and began repeating the same lines to another person.

I quickly exited the Adventurers’ Guild.

I didn’t even need to ask where the gate was.

Just needed to follow the users leaving the Capital City.

Outside the Lunaris Capital City, not far away, a large gate had opened.

In front of it stood the city knights and priests and paladins dispatched from various temples, as well as NPCs from the Adventurers’ Guild guarding the entrance.

Using the gate was quite easy.

After showing the medallion I received from the guild, I was able to step through the gate right away.

The moment I leaped into the huge gate, with a brief wait, my body transformed into light and scattered.

This was the effect that occurred whenever transitioning to a new area.

As my light-filled form flew, once I arrived in the different world, I regained my original shape.

Thud-!

I stepped off the light pillar that had fallen to the ground.

The blackened ground and the rising red moon in the dark sky.

With no stars around, that red moon really looked like the eye of a demon.

[Hell Mana Tracking – Part One.]

Use the gate to hell 1/1

Ding!

The quest was completed. But with no continuing quests after, it seemed the main quest ended here.

In that moment, dark energy began to swirl up from the black ground beneath me.

As the dark aura wrapped around my ankles and began to climb my body, aiming to cover me, the Demon Sword I was equipped with flickered slightly like lightning.

Crackle-

[Demon Sword’s Master]

The Demon Sword absorbs the magic of Hell.

You are not affected by the magic.

The debuff effects from the new area faded away.

Like a hidden Easter egg in the Holy Sword, it seemed the Demon Sword possessed its own hidden features as well.

I caressed the Demon Sword and surveyed my surroundings.

[Expedition’s Base Camp]

The name of the area marked on my mini-map was Expedition’s Base Camp.

True to its name, there were many tents around, materials that had crossed over from the gate, and various NPCs like paladins and priests bustling about.

Among them, the most noticeable was the NPC named [Commander Executioner Crow], radiating a gentle sunlight.

Speaking of which, the NPC from the Adventurers’ Guild had told me to seek out Crow once I arrived here.

I hurried toward Crow.

There were plenty of other users gathered around Crow as well, all seemingly engaged in quests.

“You are…”

The moment Crow spotted me, his hand hovered over his sword’s hilt.

As if ready to slash me down at any moment.

His movement reminded me of the effect of the Demon Sword I had momentarily forgotten.

[Wearing it decreases the favorability with NPCs serving the Sun God by two levels.]

It seemed like this effect was in play.

“Don’t come any closer. I have no desire to become friendly with you.”

I stepped back in response to Crow’s words.

If I just wanted to complete a quest, I could simply unequip the Demon Sword.

But I had no real interest in doing so.

This was a side quest, after all. It didn’t really matter if I completed it or not.

I felt the gazes of other NPCs watching me as I exited the base camp.

The patch notes mentioned another main quest still available.

I was planning to search for that quest.

The moment I stepped out of the safe zone, every user’s nickname turned bright red.

To other users, I must have looked the same way.

The only ones appearing green, which signifies a favorable state, were my guild members and allies.

It was a PVP area. Given the nature of the zone, it was inevitable that various troubles would arise.

Other leading groups that had left before me seemed to be fighting as well, as the guild chat was bombarded with messages.

I immediately spread my arms wide.

A large magical formation appeared in the air, and my whole body ignited into a hellfire horse.

The dramatic entrance contradicted the size of the horse.

“Hee-hee!”

I quickly hopped onto the horse.

Since this was a newly formed area, my first thought was to illuminate the map.

It was a new area where I had no clue what was where. I needed to find the locations of field bosses and various gathering points.

As I lightly kicked the horse’s belly, it dashed off rapidly.

Clomp clomp clomp—

Not many had mounted steeds in Deron.

I zipped past users crawling and made my way through the new area.

After quite a bit of running, I spotted a new village.

But it was no ordinary village.

The NPCs roaming around the village looked extremely strange.

With dark red skin that couldn’t possibly belong to mundane humans, and horns sprouting from their heads.

Not to mention the wings sprawling from their backs.

This was a village of demons.

The names of the demon NPCs were gray, indicating neutrality.

If I didn’t initiate an attack, they wouldn’t attack me either.

I dismounted from my horse and approached the village closer.

One of the demon guards looked at me and spoke.

“You… although you are human, there’s a familiar aura surrounding you.”

The appearance of the guard NPC wasn’t very different from a human’s.

There were varying looks even among demon NPCs, but there was one thing in common.

That was definitely the horns sprouting from their heads.

Regardless of the differences in looks and size, all demon NPCs had horns on their heads.

“Is it alright for me to enter?”

“As long as you don’t cause any trouble.”

The demon guard said that and allowed me to enter the village.

Inside the village, it wasn’t just NPCs present.

There were already other users who had come here.

They all shared the same characteristics.

Draped in robes, with dark aura flowing from their feet.

And the distinct hell magic swirling around their hands.

All the users wandering around this place were Warlocks.

I spotted someone familiar among the users wandering the village.

[Priscilla]

She was the one in our party who was handling the Warlock.

“Party Leader…?”

Priscilla looked surprised to see me here.

I quickly approached her.

“How did you get in here?”

“They just let me in, you know?”

“Yeah…?”

Priscilla cocked her head, as if she hadn’t understood my answer.

“I could really, really just walk in!”

“Really.”

“That’s strange…”

And at that moment, a rough shout erupted from just outside the village.

“Enemies!”

“Humans!”

Priscilla and I peeked out of the village.

There, the demon guards were mercilessly pummeling about five users.

The demon NPCs were astonishingly strong. It took them less than a minute to wipe out a party of max-level users.

“See? If you try to just waltz in, the NPCs attack you.”

“How did you get in, Priscilla?”

“The Warlocks don’t attack. They said they sensed a familiar aura.”

It seemed that the hidden features of this Demon Sword were not limited to just one.
