Hello, Adventurer.
An update for Deron Online is scheduled for December 7th (Wednesday).
[New Content: Faction Battle]

A new content, the Faction Battle, is being introduced.

Users participating in the faction battle will be transported to a specific area and will battle for 1 hour.
※ This system will not be applied in general fields.

[Addition of Honor Points Shop]
An NPC called the Supply Officer will be added to the Lunaris Capital City to sell items for Honor Points.
Not long after the Hell update, another update is announced.
While users were enjoying the continuous updates, I felt a sense of unease.
Deron has become a game I barely recognize anymore.
A faction system? That wasn’t in the Deron I used to play.
“Hmm…”
The Honor System. I had experienced it in other RPGs, so I knew well how it would work.
Honor systems usually cater to the Bill Gates of time-wasting.
I could already picture the chaos.
The Hell field would literally turn into hell.
It was clear that countless murderers would appear non-stop.
Imagining that horrifying future sent shivers down my spine.
*
On the day of the update, naturally, many users set out for the Hell field with dreams of becoming the Grand Commander.
The game company introducing user divide in Deron was highly successful.
Outside safe zones, fights of all sizes continued without interruption. I felt unnerved watching murderers relentlessly chase fleeing users and stab them from behind.
In our guild, there were also those aiming for the rankings.
Specifically, Iyap, the Snow Mage, and Hwarang.
I didn’t understand how a student like Hwarang could maintain a ranking, but he was already scoring high on the first day of the content update.
I wanted to aim for the rankings too. However, my status as a student and the curfew weighed heavily on my ankles.
– This is so unfair.
I bit my lip, thinking. I wanted to be the Grand Commander too. I wanted the cool mount only the Grand Commander could ride.
And more than anything, I wanted to use the Grand Commander exclusive transformation skill.
Although it was only limited to Event Battles, I had experienced the thrill of fighting in another form.
Anyone who hadn’t tried it would never know how fun it was.
I opened the ranking system to check the Human Clan ranks.
The first place was taken by a user named Melvin, followed by a user named Chongchong in second place.
I scrolled down the ranking page to find Jupiter’s nickname.
Jupiter was ranked 11th.
Just like that, the ranking system fluctuated, and he fell to 12th.
Not much of a rank for someone claiming to represent the Human Clan.
Helena – [Isn’t Yeo climbing the ranks?]
Yeo – [Even if I climbed, I’d still lose to the unemployed.]
Helena – [That seems unavoidable.]
Yeo – [If I had the time, I could have been the Grand Commander~]
Though I said that, it was still only the first day, and I thought I’d give it a shot.
Who knows, while being the Grand Commander might be a stretch, I could aim for Commander or Legion Leader.
“Come out!”
I spread my arms wide and summoned a large magical formation, from which a small Hellfire Horse sprang forth.
“Neigh!”
I quickly hopped on my horse and dashed out of the village.
The moment I stepped out of a safe zone, I could see fights erupting all around.
Sneaky thieves were lurking in the passageways people frequently passed, revealing themselves to slash with their blades.
Seeing that made my blood boil with uncontrollable rage.
“Yahhhh!”
Thieves, the worst of scum. The memories of what I endured in Demon Fortress were still fresh.
“Die, thief!!!”
I leaped off my Hellfire Horse and charged at the thief who was hiding in stealth.
He screamed in terror at my sudden onslaught.
“Ugh, aaaaaah!”
In the swift motion of my Demon Sword creating a black arc, the Thief User swung his dagger trying to block my attack.
But he only managed to block once; he couldn’t defend against the follow-up attacks.
Swoosh-!
Swoosh-!
With consecutive attacks, the Thief User was pierced in the neck twice before he died.
Honor Points gained +1.
Just one point…?
I collected my points and checked the Honor Points of the top users in each faction.
The 1st place for Humans was Melvin with 720 points, while the 1st place for the Demon faction was the Snow Mage with 620 points.
Hwarang also had an impressive score of 380 points.
To maintain a high rank, I would have to slice through opposing faction users as easily as breathing.
Today was likely to be a very busy day.
I summoned my Hellfire Horse once more and began to gallop quickly.
As I rode, I swung my sword. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say I slashed down every Human Clan user I saw.
After a while of galloping with my horse, I swung my sword at a Human Clan user in front of me.
Once again, it was a sharp attack aimed at the neck.
But…
Clang!
That attack was blocked oh-so-easily.
Even worse, the opponent didn’t just block; they attempted a counterattack.
Whoosh!
As the opponent’s attack struck, my Hellfire Horse began to shimmer and blur.
I hurriedly dropped to the ground and checked the opponent’s nickname.
[Murderer]
[CoolCool]
[Melvin]
Melvin, the user ranked 1st in the Human faction.
He raised an eyebrow and smirked, as if he recognized me.
“Wow, the Blood Demon King…”
His voice was a mix of admiration and playfulness, but his gaze was as sharp as a blade.
The dual daggers in his hands reflected the crimson moonlight ominously.
His drooping arms looked ready to strike at any moment.
We exchanged glances, probing each other when Melvin made the first move.
He dashed forward at a high speed and suddenly vanished.
A usage of the stealth skill inherent to the Thief class.
In the next moment, just in front of me, I heard a faint sound of the wind, and then the blurry figure of Melvin appeared.
He swung his daggers over his shoulder, illuminated by the red moonlight.
Swoosh!
A dark green effect stretched long as it aimed for my neck.
Clang!
I had anticipated that attack and blocked it with my sword.
But the opponent didn’t stop. Melvin twisted the daggers in his hands and scraped them across the blade.
Screech!
The unbearable high-pitched sound made me grimace.
Seemingly enjoying my reaction, Melvin stepped back with a strange smile.
He’s a strong opponent. At least stronger than Jupiter, who wielded the Holy Sword.
“I’d love to keep fighting, but I have to go, I’m busy…”
“What…? You’re too busy?”
“Well, I need to boost my Honor Points. You’re strong so it’d be a waste of time for me to fight you.”
“Who says you can go?”
“Hmm…”
Melvin seemed hesitant to face me.
But I had no intention of letting him go.
He was a notorious murderer with over 700 kills.
If I let him go like this, many more would become victims.
Just then, Melvin, who seemed to be waiting for an opportunity, pulled something from his pocket and tossed it to the ground.
Boom!
Something hit the ground and exploded with a bang.
A thick smoke immediately filled the air, obscuring my view.
“Cough! Cough!”
The smoke was painful and stung my eyes.
I quickly tried to escape the smoke, but by then, Melvin had vanished.
Just as I thought that, something transparent flew in from a distance.
The moment I recognized it, my body reacted.
Clang, clang!
As I deflected the transparent attack, shurikens fell to the ground with a clatter.
“Shurikens…?”
I looked toward the direction from which the attack came.
There stood Melvin, just emerging from stealth with a swaying posture.
I immediately charged at him.
Swathed in blue mana, I rushed forward, swinging my sword.
Swoosh-!
The sensation of blade meeting flesh was incredibly alien.
In an instant, Melvin’s figure disappeared in a blur, leaving only a partially severed log in his place.
I stood holding my Demon Sword, scanning my surroundings.
But this time, it seemed he really had escaped; I couldn’t find Melvin anywhere.
Sighing at the log on the ground, I was left in disbelief.
Could it be that his class was Shinobi?
The Shinobi, a top-tier class ranked at 4, had very few offensive skills, only relying on shurikens and throwing stars.
Though it would be a great choice for concept players, picking Shinobi meant the character would lack powerful damage-dealing skills, rendering it unable to effectively play the dealer role.
Since others usually have dealing skills, it made sense that it would be a class people would avoid.
Melvin was a user who knew how to exploit all the advantages of a Thief.
He never rested. Using underhanded tactics, he continued to rack up Honor Points.
While I also worked hard to collect Honor Points across the map, I couldn’t keep up with his pace.
In this vast Hell map, I occasionally encountered Melvin.
But he would just mock me and calmly slip away using his Shinobi skills.
In the end, I could never kill Melvin.
