Your Commander-in-Chief – Chapter 93

Arriving at our destination, we had landed at Turtle Island, the closest point to the surface.

True to its name, the island was home to quite a few turtles, and the residents were selling turtle dishes as their specialty.

“Drop anchor!”

I shouted like a pirate captain, swinging my sword around.

My crew responded loudly in unison.

– Ahoy!

We weren’t the only ones docked at the island. I marveled at the numerous ships surrounding the large island.

So that’s where everyone went, huh? Stuck on this island.

We folded the sails and lowered the anchor. As I jumped off the ship, I watched the chain clank down.

The refreshing breeze and gently swaying palm leaves created a pleasant sound.

Turtle Island was a typical tropical island.

Users lounging on the island began to look at me.

No, it wasn’t just me. They were looking at our entire pirate crew.

It seemed they were admiring our captivating presence.

I gathered the plunder we had on board and made my way to the NPC merchant responsible for the specialty goods.

The loot I brought carried a ‘stolen goods’ penalty, which meant it sold for a lower price than usual.

However, I had quite a bit of loot, so I was sure I could earn a fair amount of maritime coins.

Maritime coins.

A new type of currency recently introduced.

The coins I earned from sales would be evenly distributed among the 80 members of the crew.

I fiddled with the maritime coins, rubbing my chin.

If I used these coins to buy the island’s specialties and then sold them on another island or back on the mainland, I could make a nice profit.

But a true pirate should never engage in trading like merchants.

That was the pride a pirate must uphold.

Just then, I heard a sound like water slicing through the air.

I slightly turned my gaze to see an enormous ship unfurling its sails and heading out to sea.

It was heading toward the mainland.

They were definitely planning to sell the specialties they bought here back on land.

I licked my lips slightly.

A new prey had appeared.

“Come out!”

I spread my arms wide and summoned a massive magical formation.

From it emerged a valiant-looking battle hell wolf.

“Urrrgh!”

“This fella, let’s go find our crew members!”

I hopped onto the wolf and immediately started running.

The crew who disembarked were scattered, exploring Turtle Island.

“Soft & Chewy Cow Pirate Crew, assemble! We’re setting sail!”

I shouted while dashing around to gather the crew members who weren’t checking the guild chat.

Tac-tac-tac—

As I rode the wolf and shouted energetically, my crew members began to pop out from all corners of the island.

“Soft & Chewy Cow Pirate Crew, assemble! We’re setting sail!”

The crew followed my orders dutifully.

Without any complaints, everyone started climbing onboard despite the sudden sailing signal.

I checked the mini-map to see where the crew members were gathering.

All 80 of them had boarded the ship.

I turned the wolf’s direction and galloped toward the ship.

Tac-tac-tac—

“We’re off! Raise the anchor and unfurl the sails!”

I shouted while running, and the crew moved in sync with my orders, the sails unfurling as the ship began to move forward.

With the wolf, I jumped aboard the ship.

“Ahoy!”

– Ahoy!

It was a perfect departure.

“Iyap! Change course to 11 o’clock!”

“Yes, Captain!”

“Everyone, draw your weapons and prepare for battle! We’ve got new prey!”

The ship smoothly sailed onwards.

The wind was favorable, and the enemy ship was of lower ranking, so its speed was also slower.

In other words, it was good prey.

The Black Leviathan Ship surged closer to the enemy vessel.

I stood atop the figurehead, staring straight ahead.

“Captain! At this rate, we’re going to crash into the ship ahead!”

A crew member seemed anxious as he approached and shouted at me.

It would be fine even if we collided. If this were reality, both ships would have taken significant damage, but this was a game.

It was common sense that higher-ranked items were better than lower-ranked ones.

We were ramming right in!

“Doesn’t matter! Keep advancing!”

“Yes!”

I felt like we were lacking in speed.

I activated the ship’s booster skill.

Kwaaaa-!

The ship sped up even more.

As the Black Leviathan Ship surged forward for a while, it bit down hard on the tail of the leading ship.

Boom-!

An enormous impact rocked my body.

But I held my ground. I had to show my dignity as the captain.

The Black Leviathan Ship had more skills than just the booster.

There was also a skill that could shoot a chain link straight ahead.

It was a skill meant for true piracy.

“Ahoy!”

I shouted loudly as I activated the skill. The front of the Black Leviathan opened wide, and from inside, a massive chain link was shot out.

Bang!

Chwa-rrr-!

The chain link flew forward and pierced the back of the ship ahead.

It was securely connected. They couldn’t escape now.

“Connected! Move across!”

– Ahoy!

Close to 80 crew members began to sprint over quickly.

Their movements were different from when we first went pirating.

They had clearly gotten hooked on this pirating game.

“Kill them all! Loot everything! Leave no one alive!”

The ship we targeted was also that of a human clan player.

Those on board began to shout and resist in defiance.

As I watched my crew passionately looting, a long shadow passed over us, blanketing the area.

“Oh?”

I looked up at the sky.

The brightly shining sun had long vanished behind dark clouds.

Suddenly, the weather changed. I felt an ominous premonition.

Kwar-lung-!

Swoosh-!

To make matters worse, thunder and lightning erupted and rain began pour down.

Users swinging their swords just froze and started looking around at the sky and surroundings.

“Yeo!”

At that moment, Helena, who had blinked her way over to my side, pointed at something beneath the ship.

I followed her finger and caught a glimpse of a large something moving beneath the water.

“What is that?”

“It feels wrong. We should get out of here quickly.”

I nodded. That ominous premonition was growing stronger.

We had to heed Helena’s warning.

“Everyone, retreat..!”

Kwaaa-!

Just as I was about to issue the order to retreat, something massive shot up from below the sea.

It was long and white, resembling tentacle-like legs of an octopus or squid.

But these tentacles were not ordinary. They were enormous.

The entire sea began to tremble.

The shockwave reached the users aboard the ship.

As if an earthquake had struck, the ship shook, causing users to stagger.

The white tentacle emerged from the surface, writhing strangely, and then slammed into the ship ahead.

Kwang!

“Uwaaaah!”

“Gaaah!”

It was a tremendous impact. That blow had nearly annihilated the ship.

Users unable to withstand the shock were hurled overboard, plunging into the sea.

Since my Black Leviathan Ship was tied with chains, it also couldn’t escape the impact.

The ship started to shake violently.

Waves crashing from all sides began to batter the deck.

If this kept up, my ship would sink too.

I bit my lip and released the chain link connecting to the enemy ship.

“Reverse! Iyap! Reverse!”

I called for our pilot in a desperate voice, but there was no response.

Wondering why, I turned my head from side to side and saw Iyap’s name floating in the sea.

He had fallen after crossing over to the enemy ship to loot.

“No!”

I shouted briefly and sprinted toward the helm.

Rain cascading down from the sky and waves crashing from all around made the deck incredibly slippery, but I managed to reach the helm steadily.

At that moment, a dark shadow loomed overhead, and I heard Helena’s scream.

“No! Yeo!”

Wondering what was going on, I looked up and saw the massive white tentacle descending ominously.

“Thi-…”

Kwaaaang!

Before I could finish my sentence, a huge impact enveloped my body.

My arms and legs scattered chaotically, and the sensation in my entire body faded in an instant.

Brrrr-!

Through the gray haze, I caught sight of the underwater scene.

Numerous users were sinking beneath the sea, and my Black Leviathan Ship was also sinking.

I shifted my gaze to follow the end of the massive tentacle.

Then, I locked eyes with a gigantic eye that was stationed there.
