Deron updates new content before launching the new expansion pack, raising the overall specs for the users.
This maritime content was playing that very role.
Through free maritime trade, I earn coins and use them to purchase equipment.
Those, commonly referred to as maritime equipment, had slightly lower stats compared to raid gear, but for users who didn’t raid, it was still a blessing.
I was also utilizing the maritime content to get new gear.
Onboard a large ship, I headed into the vast sea.
I wasn’t engaging in trade but headed towards Treasure Island, a dedicated map where I could obtain PVP equipment.
The Treasure Island content was similar to the previously added Demon Fortress content.
However, there was one difference: the treasure chest system.
No boss monsters appear on Treasure Island. Instead, treasure chests spawn randomly throughout the island.
According to the information, inside the treasure chests, one could find various equipment, mounts only obtainable from there, costumes, and Pirate Coins.
The equipment available on Treasure Island came with PVP-specific stats.
That was precisely my goal.
I switched the ship to auto-move. Marking the destination coordinates allowed it to advance on its own.
I moved toward the ship’s railing to fish.
Fishing from the ship increased the chances of encountering higher grade fish compared to fishing in the general field.
The fishing rod I pulled from my inventory had a cute dolphin decoration on the handle.
It was the highest-grade fishing rod.
They claimed that with this rod, one could catch sharks, but no one ever had.
While drifting alone and fishing, I occasionally encountered pirate-themed users.
However, they never attacked me.
They merely avoided me, seeing the soft & chewy cow mark patterned on my sail.
Only those users who dared to confront us were the hostile Human Clan alliances.
While fishing, I checked the locations of my guild members.
Given the timing, most users were floating on the sea.
But Hwarang’s location was strange. He was in jail.
Jail? Could it be that he returned to the surface with a felony warrant?
I hurriedly typed a message.
Yeo – [What’s going on? Why are you in jail?]
Hwarang – [I died on the surface.]
Yeo – [Who killed you?]
Hwarang – [Melvin.]
I visualized that thief’s face upon Hwarang’s words.
Always wearing a mask, he had an extremely shady look about him.
Melvin was quite a skilled player, though he never fought with me.
I could understand how Hwarang ended up in this predicament.
But how did Hwarang return to the surface with a felony warrant?
What a foolish move.
Yeo – [What are you doing there?]
Hwarang – [Aren’t you worried that I’m in jail?]
Yeo – [Did you really bring in coal?]
Hwarang – [Yup.]
I gently shook my fishing rod while continuing the chat with Hwarang.
Drifting alone on the sea was rather dull.
The beautiful ocean scenery loses its charm after seeing it for too long; it felt like the world had flipped upside down.
Just as I was nodding along and humming a tune, the ship stopped. It meant I had arrived at my destination.
Yeo – [Good job.]
Hwarang – [Yup.]
I ended the messaging with Hwarang and shifted my focus.
I had arrived right as the coordinates indicated. I climbed to the bow of the ship and examined the giant island spread out before me.
The massive skull-shaped mountain in the middle and the dense trees resembling a jungle obscured the view of the inside of the island.
I had reached Treasure Island, a PVP-only content area.
I jumped off the ship and landed firmly on the front side of the island.
Near the entrance of the island, several users, apart from me, were also gathered.
As it had been in the Demon Fortress, the entrance to the PVP content area was a safe zone.
To enter deeper into Treasure Island, I had to pay a certain amount of maritime coins.
I handed the coins to a scruffy-looking pirate NPC standing near the entrance.
The pirate NPC shook the maritime coins in his hand and spoke.
“Hey, you got business on this island? If you get some Pirate Coins inside, come find me. I’ll trade you something good.”
With those words, my body was whisked away in a brief flash of light.
The moment I entered the island, all community functions were sealed.
It was a debuff called the power of Treasure Island.
I checked myself first.
My arms and legs hadn’t changed in length. My skin remained as fair as ever.
The only differences were the gear I was wearing and the mask covering my face.
“Ah.”
But my voice had surely changed.
I drew my sword. At that moment, I had become a truly magnificent pirate.
“Ahoy!”
The items given to users entering the island were a sturdy shovel and a compass to check their position.
I quickly moved through the jungle.
Treasure Island was a perfect jungle. The grass towered to my height, with vines settling down everywhere, and trees reaching high into the sky.
If I hid in the bushes, I could completely conceal myself.
Pirates should be sneaky. I moved through the foliage, observing the users’ movements.
Getting Pirate Coins by fighting monsters was a waste of time. I had learned this from the Demon Fortress experience. It’s far more efficient to rob users who have finished farming.
A user resembling a typical pirate henchman caught my eye.
He was swinging his sword, hunting skeletons.
I felt a glint in my eye as I awaited my chance.
The moment I spotted my prey, my vision sharpened, and I lowered my stance, placing my left hand on the ground.
The sword in my right hand was drawn back, ready to strike at any moment.
The opportunity soon arose.
As the pirate henchman finished hunting the skeleton and was in the process of looting items,
I sprinted forward, using a slight rotation for momentum to turn my body.
Swoosh!
At the tip of my long-sweeping sword, black magic surged forth.
“Ugh—ugh!”
A perfectly timed strike aimed at the vital point.
There was no way he could withstand it.
His severed head floated into the air as his body turned gray and collapsed.
I looked at the user’s corpse, gleaming with excitement.
Soon, I could grasp everything that user had farmed here.
However, contrary to my expectations, only about a hundred Pirate Coins were scattered on the ground.
Not the best start.
I furrowed my brow.
Just as I was about to gather the coins, a sudden sound rang out.
Bang—!
With a sharp noise, my body was knocked backward, and my vision turned red.
The [Undying] skill had activated, fixing my health at 1.
All my health vanished in an instant.
It was definitely an archer’s shot.
“W-what…!”
The distance was too far. Even if I rushed in, I wouldn’t be able to catch him.
I looked toward the direction from where the shot had come.
The sniper must have quickly evaded the area; I couldn’t spot them anymore.
I bit my lip and collapsed to the ground.
I had died in less than five minutes after entering.
What a ridiculous end.
Dying in a PVP content area means you’re thrown out in that very position.
I found myself tossed out, lying flat on the ground at the entrance of the island.
“What? Did the Blood Demon King just die?”
“Is this round really tough?”
“I am not the Blood Demon King.”
Users chatting nearby recognized me and approached.
I pulled down the pirate hat costume I was wearing, covering my face.
This was an absolute humiliation.
I couldn’t forgive being thrown out like this.
“Ugh!”
I stood up and paid my maritime coins again to enter the island.
The moment I opened my eyes in the new location, I began running towards the place where I had died.
I swiftly moved to the marked spot on my compass, scanning the surroundings, but as expected, the scattered Pirate Coins were gone.
A sigh escaped me.
In this vast, jungle-like island, finding that sniper would be nearly impossible.
But I hadn’t given up on revenge. I would hunt down that guy who had taken my life mercilessly.
I drew my sword and concealed myself in the bushes.
Like a snake slithering through the jungle, I searched for prey while staying hidden.
How long passed?
I spotted another target.
Completely defenseless, he was opening a large treasure chest that had respawned on the ground.
If I struck from behind now, I could both kill him and take the treasure chest.
But I patiently waited, refusing to rush in. I held my ground and continued to wait.
The moment the user fully opened the treasure chest,
Bang—!
With a short gunshot, the user’s body leaned slightly to the side while opening the chest.
He hadn’t died, but was seriously injured and his health drained.
The bleeding was also quite severe.
“Hey, where are you!”
The user, struck by the shot, grabbed his sword and shield, glaring around.
After a while, probably around 20 seconds after the first shot,
Bang—!
A second gunshot rang out, and the user who stood before me turned gray and collapsed.
This time, the user who was shot had quite a lot of Pirate Coins.
An immense amount of coins poured onto the ground.
“Gah…”
Pirate Coins rolled right up to my feet.
But I didn’t reach out for them.
I patiently held back and waited.
After about a minute of waiting patiently, I finally spotted the figure of the opponent I had been tracking.
A user wearing a parrot mask emerged from the bushes.
A long sniper rifle was slung across his back, with messy grass sticking to him.
That was him. He was undoubtedly the one who had killed me.
I tightened my grip on my sword.
The parrot-masked user, scanning the surroundings, was licking his lips, strolling slowly.
Bending low, he continually glanced around, indicating he had done this many times before.
The moment he got distracted by the scattered Pirate Coins on the ground and the treasure chest,
I sprang forth, swiftly and silently, swinging my sword.
Swoosh—!
The parrot-masked user began to react too late, already falling within my range.
I swung down, slamming my body into the ground. Using a skill with a longer range than a typical attack to ensure I captured him.
[Rampage.]
Boom!
With the shock from striking the ground, the pirate coins flew upward along with the parrot user.
A flimsy archer couldn’t possibly withstand my blow.
Slashing through, my subsequent Rampage attack shattered the air.
The five sharp strikes thoroughly dismantled the archer user’s body.
Even after enduring all my attacks, the parrot user didn’t succumb. It seemed they had equipped PVP gear from the Pirate Coins from this island.
But fate was immutable. The moment my skills ended, I spun around and brought my massive sword crashing down on him.
Crack!
At the moment the parrot-masked user died, an immense number of coins erupted onto the ground.
Cha-ching—!
“Gah…!”
I sank to the ground, hurriedly gathering every single coin.
In total, the coins I collected surpassed 5,000.
5,000 Pirate Coins were enough to pull a piece of armor.
This farm run was complete.
I hurriedly made my exit from the island before dying again.
The Snow Mage had said this.
True pirates shout their special pirate cry when excited.
“Ahoy~”
I was incredibly, incredibly excited.
